For the softback sportseats see picture from my ex 964T(tan) and from my 993(blue). Very similar.

As for the usage of Recaro seats for a street car I agree with Jastx. I would not have them in my 993 if it was a dailydriver. Get the softback sportseats

Aha! Now I get it! I've seen 1995's listed as having "sport seats" but I knew from the pics that they weren't the hardback seats. I didn't realize that these are what was sold in 1995. Nice side bolsters!

I didn't think that my hardback sport seats had enough cushion for a daily driver, but I'm pretty skinny and don't have much cushioning of my own.

Hi all,
I have the pole pos in my car and it is a conscious process to get into it. Nice once you are in though.

Has anyone put the earlier, manual sport seats in a 993? They look similar in the side bolsters to the seats in Patricks car, with a bit more bolster on the base.

Will the seat back angle adjuster clear in the rear? Does anyone know what they weigh?

Thanks,
Pete

My 95 (dec 94 build) had the hard backed sport seat option. I will say they did seem to sit a bit higher than the standard seats, which for tall people, limits helmet-headroom.

I have the silver, hard backed sport seats in my car. I am 6' 1" and I fit fine. Maybe with a helmet it would be a problem but otherwise its fine. The silver back looks breat with my Arctic exterior and lightens the otherwise, really dark black interior.

Recaro does make other seats too, some quite nice street seats. This one, the Sport, is very much like the factory sport seats and can even be had with adjustable lumbar and electronic tilt and seat height. You can get them new in full leather for about what you'd pay for a nice set of used factory sport seats. With the electic adjustments, they bolt into a 993 with no mods. With manual adjustments, you have to remove a tilt **** from the inside side.

Stedge,

There is no adjustment for lumbar as they are rigid shells. I guess you could remove the back cushion and add padding.

I just do DE's and races in my GT3's and find the seats to be terrificly supportive and comfy. My longest street driving stint was about an hour and a half early this fall. Felt fine.

You can find both the early 964 type and later 993 type sport seats pictured above in 968's, they sometimes come up for sale out of a wrecked car. I bought a set of the later 993 style sport seats to put into my cab from a wrecked 968 mo30 coupe. 92 and 93 968's had the 964 type, and 94 and 95 968's had the 993 type.

The sport seats were $365 each as a factory option.

Is this for the hardback sport seats? Seems hard to believe when they sell for such high prices most places.

Ahhhh! My thread was hijacked! Thanks for all the comments - but the info I was looking for never got answered. Sooooo....

How rare are the sport seats in a 97 carrera? BTW - I have them, with crests - so I'm not looking to buy them. I just want to know how rare it is to have them. I dont see them very often... thanks!!

Well, Porsche NA cannot even tell me how many pastel yellow 98's came into the US, and there probably are figures for that somewhere. As to your seats, and cars that were ordered with sports seats maybe just look at total cars and use a percentage figure, I don't know. As for your thread getting hijacked, all I can say is that because of that there is a 98 pastel yellow 911 joining the ranks as another sport seat sporting Porsche!

I can't imagine you'll ever get an answer to the question "how rare are sports seats." I'll take a stab at it, however: I'll say 1 car in 20 has sport seats. Seems about right.

In Sweden my best geuss is 1 in 10 has sport seats.

Sorry for dropping out of line, but I was trying too give you more info about "sport" seats before you spend a fortune. And then finding out you were looking for race seats all a long
