That is correct Jean Pierre...I have never driven a 993TT or an RS [of course they never brought them here!!]. I have however driven a 996 GT3 and 996TT, and I prefer the GT3 to the Turbo personally...I think that if I had TT money and an RS were available here I'd spring for an RS...I have always preferred naturally aspirated to Forced induction engines, and the sound and fury of the GT3 screaming to redline [although the 996 variant is 8300RPM redline and the 993 is 6200 I think] is addictive.

I have to agree with him. I've never driven the TT so I cannot advise about TT.
Since you are in a privileged position of living in Europe I would buy the RS. If you don't drive excessive mileage the RS will depreciate the least (or if you can stretch to a GT2 even better). My brother drives a Ferrari F355 and he was most impressed by how agile the RS was and he said he would have been just as happy if he bought the RS instead of the F355 (he almost went nuts and bought a GT2 as well until his senses got the better of him!). If you go for the RS then the best place you can go is Hermanns & Schmitz who has a great reputation. I happened to buy mine private which could be a little more risky. You have to bear in mind that most RS will have been taken to the race track so if you don't like that then it may not be for you (collectors cars exist but will probably cost as much as the GT3RS in one RSCS I saw in UK in which case I think it will be a tough choice). Whatever you decide you will love driving the car back home

Bought mine from Porker and drove TT's and GT3's. Almost pulled the trigger on a GT3 but the young (enthusiastic) sales rep showed me a customer 993 RS.. love at first sight. The rest is history.

Judging from the asking prices of RS's since last year, the prices are moving up. Me like

Guys I am overwhelmed. Two pages screaming TT and RS!! You have been gracious giving me advise, and you made me feel very welcome for a newb.
So all I need to find out now is what kind of customs I can get away with... So I will be keeping you posted. In the meantime, I thought I would share a pic of the red - which by the way I believe it is the dark red. I dont think they made a bright lipstick red...



By the way, for all of you wondering, I think the little voice that is screaming at me is dressed in red too, and does have a pointy tail... The white one says I should be looking to buy a summer house on an island. And in the summer it will be saying to me I TOLD YOU SO!!
But heck, lets hope 2005 is a good year and I get both! After all, its one dream at a time right?

The only thing that just troubled me is that I think the steering wheel should be red... So maybe it has been changed? Hmmm something to investigate...

The TT!! an RS is a wuss car has no potential. Just a fact--the TT on the other hand can be made to almost a Street legal GT1. No question here. BTW Moniques posts are all the same Post 1: get an RS Post 973 Get an RS. I grow weary of you insulting every one elses car and believing that yours is the only one to own. I think the RS is a very nice car but I dont believe its Gods gift to all of PorsheDom. I dont want a underpowered narrowbody and there are others like me. A lot of people have alot of different 993s here and they dont go calling everyone elses car a porker or weakling or posuers a wuss or whatever. Calling a TT a wuss car may be the most lacking comment I have heard on this board. Everyone here loves their own car for their own reasons and you should repsect that.

The first owner may have optioned out the wheel to be black or maybe a PO changed it to black. I'd look at the rest of the car to ascertain that there's no damage rather than the steering wheel, if that's what you're concerned about.

Of course I will look as close as I can Mark. But first I need to get there!
The dealer that is selling it is the Porsche center that has been servicing it. I will ask them to fax me copies of all the service records. However there is no PPI in the sense you guys have it in the US as I recall. My best shot will be to take the car elsewhere to be checked, but I dont know if I will find a specialist in the same town, the car is not in Munich but outside, in a smaller town. I will take all my books with me and give it a very close inspection, and perhaps I will ask the dealer to get me in touch with the previous owner...

OldGuy dont get all worked up... We have a saying in Greek, if you dont flatter your house it will fall on your head. To each his own then, I am sure that most people here agree with what you say, and love their cars for their own reasons. Trust me no one will impose an opinion on me, or any of us I believe. We are old enough to think independantly. So dont lose your cool!

I didnt want to lose my cool Nick and thanks. But I just get tired of hearing "mines the best and you all suck" Its the same post over and over. Its just not true, and provides no real input to this forum. To call a TT a wuss car is about as laughable as I have heard and then to say its a fact is even more farce-ical. Everyone should be able to love their car without useless insults on those cars. They are all good. Good luck with your choice and love it too!!

Take it easy. I don't think Monique means it seriously. Most of us do not deprecate other peoples' cars. We all have different tastes - some like NA cars, some like turbo cars - if we had the same tastes then the world will be a boring place. I'm sure my car is a wuss car compared to the 73 RS
