What about the Traffic Pro from Crutchfield? It is an easy upgrade from the CDR220 and the OEM Porsche faceplate is available from Becker N.A.
Just a thought, Dave

also very interested in this thread. i currently have a 210/stock system, and have been thinking about upgrading to 220, and adding the hi fi speakers to the back.

Is the HIFI option, only a speaker upgrade or is the amp also an upgraded version?

IIRC the "normal" stereo option drives the speakers direct (i.e. the amp is in the head unit). Four channels out (FR,FL,RR& RL channels)
The "HiFi" option uses the pre-outs on the head unit and the amp is actually located under the passenger seat (look for a black box about 1/2 the height of a shoe box with ridges down one side).
The amp is actually a 6 channel box. Takes four channels in (FR,FL, RR,RL) and then outputs RR,RL then splits the front into two seperate Woofer and mid/tweeterchannels for FLw,FLt,FRw,FRt.
I've seen kary993's stock front speakers & they looked in good condition, IIRC he also had the rear deck for a coupe with the rear speakers too... ask him.
Hope that helps,
Clive.

Would anyone happen to know if the 220 is a plug and play type swap out with the 210 stock head unit? I thought it was a direct replacement. Car is in the show for several things and while it is there I asked them to swap units. Apparently its not the case. Just wondering if I missed something.
TIA,
Sam

Yes It is a direct swap as far as wiring.
As far as fit, u will have to remove the frame that came with the 210.
Pretty easy to install if u get the wires in the back of the radio correctly aligned.
