Just filled up with 100 proof at the San Vicente/Bundy 76. $ 6.00 a gallon, pretty steep though. The manager said they will definitely continue carrying it and that they get it from somewhere else, not 76.

Do you add a pint of Techron before or after your oil change, and do you add any in the interim?
Thanks,

I think that Steve W. recommed doing the Techron or other cleaners prior to an oil change. Lubro Moly was one of the cleaners he recommended. Might be worth doing a search.

Are you *sure* that 76 doesn't sell 100? Seems that a few members here are still buying it at 76 stations as recently as today....

I have to bow to your greater knowledge..
I spoke with the attendant at the Norco 76 today. The 100 Octane does NOT come from 76, but from VP Racing. http://www.vpracingfuels.com

grmnxtc,
It is I who should be bowing, grasshopper; I made a rash statement forgetting that many of the 76 stations are independent and get get their fuel from whomever. We all learned something from this thread. I only wish there was some 100 octane a tad closer to me. I am envious.

If you are willing to buy it in drums (I think there are 30 gal drums available) - there is a motorcycle shop on TO Blvd that is a VP dealer.

Going forward, well maybe......................
I am going to blend for 93 octane. There are graphs to help you calculate the blend. What about doing it this way???
15 gallons X 91 (octane) = 1,365
5 gallons X 100 (octante) = 500
Total 1,865
Divided By 20 Gallons
Octane Average 93.25
Does this make sense? Regardless, I did just about this, adding 5 gallons of race gas to about 15 gallons of 91...the pinging disappeared immediately, and the car just felt better.

Yup, that pretty much is how I calculate it.
Martin, Do you actually hear your car pinging on 91? I'm surprised, because I thought the knock sensors would sense knock before you could hear it and the ecu would back off of the timing.

The Union/Unocal station in Woodside sells 100 Octane gas (Not Union, but Sunoco!) so it seems likely the posts about Union not supplying it any more are correct. My GT3 runs very well on 91 Octane (knock sensor and ECU do their job well), but I certainly enjoy pedal to the metal more knowing I've got the 93+ mix going for me.

Confession....and why the pinging
I have the ANDIAL 2 degree advance device that I had installed a few years back. It provides a constant 2 degrees of advance and fools the electronics a bit. This was a big deal back then...everyone had to have one, a panacea. Does it work, I can't tell really. It seemed like it did at the time probably much the same as my Fabspeeds have made my car seem quicker.
I am having the 2 degree device extracted next week because it makes 93 octane mandatory, and not optional were the advanced sensor not in place. I say this because with the 93 octane gas in the car now, there is no pinging.
