Default Wheel Offset Help, Please?

I'm looking at some wheels and trying to determine what the offsets are.

They are 17" Fikse, 8.5f and 10r. Seller has given me info in terms of backspacing and I'm trying to determine what the equivalent offset as expressed in the more common ET terms.. ie ET55.

This is the info he sent...

Wheel width / Backspace / offset / converted to mm
Rear 10 / 7.25 / 2.25 / 57.15
Front 8.5 / 6.25 / 2 / 50.8

These are rough measurements he made w/ a ruler so the exact offsets are somewhere close.

Are his calculations on offsets correct? This is coming off a 1995 C4 993.

Thanks!!

kkim,

If these are the same wheels on EBAY, then they should fit your car. Fikse custom makes them for each individual car and it looks like that is the case for the gentlemans 95' C4. Those are very nice wheels BTW and I too, was interested in them for the track. If you are using them on the street only, I'd stick with your MY02's. 18's look soooo much better IMHO.

Yes, the Ebay wheels. I like how the 18's look, but I really like the way 17s feel. So much more responsive than 18s, IMHO. I'm looking to use the same width 17" tires that I use on the MY02s so I don't lose any adhesion due to width.

I have been in close contact with the owner and he sounds like a straight shooter. Just trying to determine the real offset of these wheels before I commit to anything.

Going off the deep end? What are you going to do with your 5-spokes?

Keep the 5 spokes for now until I can make a valid comparison between 17 and 18 inch wheels.

Aren't we all sort of off the deep end anyway?

Can someone confirm the backspacing measurements converts to the ET measurements he listed?

Kelly,

A fellow rennlister posted this helpful chart. I hope you can get the info you need. Based on tis, it seems thatthe offset is correct as mentioned.

Thanks, Jean. Based on that diagram, it does seem like his calculated offsets were correct. I had some doubts when I found another chart which didn't agree with the numbers he provided.

Mahalo. Hope you're having a cool day in the other side of the world, today.

offset = 25.4 x [backspace - (0.5 x rim width)]
