Do you have access to a spare key? Or try moving the key in and out several times? Maybe a stuck tumbler bit? Sorry not much help...

To expand on Chris's stuck tumbler bit, try sparying some lubricant in the keyhole to unstick the bit. I've seen locks just freeze up and the key will just not work unless the tumblers are freed up.
Good luck. Hope it's something as simple as this.

This happened to me too in warm weather. I tried the spare key and eventually it released. Took 30 min! The day after the same problem, so I took gun lubrication spray and sprayed into the keyhole and also on the key several times while inserting and taking out the key moving it side to side. Eventually the problem dissapeared. But I repeated the job one week after. Hope it works....

Happened to me once. I turned steering wheel back and forth with some force and after a loud bang, it released. I thought I did some serious damage but everything still ok after more than a year.
