SEM- this company probaly makes the best vinyl\leather dye. It really depends on the application though. Make sure to really clean your parts and then wipe down with a clean rag doused with lacquer thinner to open the poors of the material.
I've used VHT Vinyl dye quite extensively. I've had pretty good results. The durability is good, and I'm sure if you used laquer thinner like AKA mentioned it would bond even better. I dyed some tan/beige stuff to black.
