Don't laugh, but I saw a Ford Taurus in that exact color today and it looked really nice
. Maybe the car was repainted in a Ford color
?
It's weird we can't easily figure out that color - we're the experts! You'd think someone here could easily identify that color in a second with all our experience seeing hundreds of 993's over many years on this board.
You may have stumped the panel.

I XPosted this to the 944 Board just to see what they thought about a 944 that color and they posted something from paintscratch.com... To me it looks a lot like Slate Gray Metallic Paint Code 22D/Q9
Can anyone verify... about calling the dealer again.. they were absolutely retarded... they knew absolutely nothing about the car... I started asking questions and they just started quoting the autotrader info sheet... like wheel base and stuff.. they were totallly retarded... Definately not a Porsche Dealer..

Well it seems like there are 2 shades of slate gray... the one that looks more green and the one that is gray... The gray one is paint code 23F and the green one is 22D/Q9...
I dunno I'm gonna call porsche tomorrow and see if they can give me the paint code from them by giving them the VIN

Wombat is correct in the code, my slate grey coupe was L23F, I've got the Cardex to verify the color. I don't know the other code, but every slate grey car I've seen looked like mine. I know Porsche went to water based paints during the time the color was used, could that account for anything?

Here is the thing from paintscratch.com. As you can see form that there were 2 different slate grays... to me the car looks like the first one.. the more green of the 2.

It's listed in plenty of places, but I can say I've never seen the 'green' slate grey. And it's not a 968 color, this chart is from 96, and I had a friend with a 964 in slate grey, identical to mine.

I know that car. It is Oak Green Metallic. The dealer won't have a paint code for it, but if you search "Oak Green" in the 928 forum I think you'll find some examples. There were two Oak Greens, and I think this one is the later one, from 94-95.
Now I'm going to go have a glass of wine and celebrate that I knew the answer to a question that even stumped Viken!
Wombat7, Did the dealer sound eager to sell?
