I just finished off the 12 gallons of gas, and bottle of Techron that I added to an almost empty tank. I was un aware that an oil change is reccommended shortly after a techron treatment. I am about to store my car for the winter (they have already sanded the roads here in CT) and I was wondering if I need to change my oil before I put her away, in light of the fact that I have only driven 200 miles since the techron treatment. Any advice would be much appreciated.
I think that the theory behind the techron before oil change is that the techron will break down some deposits and possibly make the oil dirtier in the process.
You might want to look at the condition of your oil through the dipstick. If you notice it being any dirtier than usual, you may want to go for the oil change.
I wouldn't worry about it because of winter storage. I know of some dealers that put BG or Techron as normal 15/30K service when oil is changed. Would be more concerned if you are storing the car for the winter with old oil that is several months old or has more than 3K miles since last change. If I cannot drive for couple of months, I try to have oil relatively fresh. Plus need to do other procedures for storing car that should be in the search database.
