SuperCups After One Month
I've had my FabSpeed SuperCups now for a little over a month and I have grown to love them. My stock motorsound exhaust was so quiet in comparison that when I first installed the SuperCups, I didn't think I would keep them. Now I can't imagine starting my 993 without hearing that rumble. My driving has changed a bit to compensate for the resonance at 2500-3000RPM, but it happens automatically. I kind of like to be able to get in that range on purpose when I am cruising next to another sports car... turns heads for sure. I had a couple of guys in a Corvette C5 stopped at the light with me ask what the heck I had under the hood back there.
I smiled and said they didn't want to find out hehehe.
Anyway, I'm used to them now and love the sound. They are not for the meek to be sure, but if you are tracking your car sometimes like I will be doing, or it is a hobby car like mine is, then this is a great exhaust system. When I go for a spin in the 993 now, it's a new experience. The greatest is starting up the car at the gas station or in front of the local Blockbuster. (only two places I seem to go in the P-car). I had one guy in the store run out to go see what it was! Fun Fun Fun.

Thanks Sean,
I have pretty(=read really) loud custom(racing) exhaust on my 911 sc and I love it. That has made me wonder, because I've been reading coplains about supercups, them being too loud etc. and wondering are they really too loud and if I get something not so loud & be disappointed.
But now, when it's time to buy mufflers for 993, I'm sure I'll get them. Only downpoint is the price though, I don't get it, how can couple of bended stainless steel pipes cost almost $1000?
Well, I guess I just have to make some kind of excuse for the price

Sean, I have a set of Fabspeed exhausts on order for my 2001 996TT. How did you feel you were treated at Fabspeed? How long did your order take? Were you able to also install the "True Oval Tips"? They look like they might be slightly off center when compared to the standard tips. Any thoughts?
Fabspeed is a quality vendor, although people may snicker at his posts, Joe is a good guy and a good vendor. I have purchaced several products from FS and have been very happy. Joe is not paying me to write this nor am I getting free SuperCups (that would be nice...) Insert standard disclaimer here
I was lucky and a great Rennlist member read one of my posts about me craving more sound out of the 993 and he emailed me asking if I wanted to buy his used set. So Tom, I really don't know how dealing with FabSpeed is since I purchased mine used.. they were delivered to me before I even sent out a check!
FF, these are loud. If they are not loud enough, you can always pull out the removable baffles and see how that works for you. I have not even tried it yet.. would be interesting though.. It seems REALLY loud at first but over time you get used to the sound and it grows on you. I just think the stock exhaust, even with Motorsound is pretty quiet in comparison. Any of you have an inboard or inboard/outboard V8 boat? I just pulled my 22' Sea Ray out of the water the other day for a cleaning and hooked up the ear muff water system and fired it up. It's a 5.7 liter. I was amazed how similar the 993 with Supercups sounds to my boat out of the water... that low rumble at idle.. but my boat does not make that sweet "screaming" sound when you get on it like the 993 does. One of my buddies followed me home from picking the 993 up from the shop after the SuperCup install ($100 total for the installation) and I got on it right in front of him. He tried to keep pace with me and his windows were down to hear the new exhaust. I wanted to see if it would be too loud for other drivers. When he got to the light his eyes were big as saucers
and he said the sucker SCREAMED and sounded like a race car.... all I wanted to hear!
I will try to remember to bring home my laptop from the office and record the sound. Don't know how or where I can post it but someone here may be able to let me email it to them and post it on their web site.. Robin?

Sean,
I have tried some exhaust recording before, but have failed to give the correct representation of actual sound through web download.
But I would be happy to host the sound file for you from my web site. (as long as the file is not too big)
