Danny, looks like the car ahead of you dumped a lot of oil !
LOL... no it was a "wet" skipad exercise. Trying to get my wife "hooked" so to speak , I signed her up on the BMW club safety clinic. It was a mix of autocrossing and braking, slalom , skipad exercises.
It was great for her to do this and she learned a lot of things. With the ASC on though I must tell you she had a very hard time braking loose the rear even on wet.
I really like the bimmer for a daily driver so to speak its been an amazing car in the 5 years I own it. M cars are truly great. Even my wife recently when she got a new 3 series loaner from the dealer she said to me "nice car but it is not our M"...
What are you calling a pony? That BMW truck is a pony? Furthermore, you want to do a C2S vs. X5 write-up? Give me a break. The only thing these two have in common is rolling tires. When I saw the title of the thread, I thought you had gotten a Ferrari or something. What a disappointment when I read the post.
Lol ! I did not spend their money on a luxury car. We had such a great script that we won the Sloan Foundation Award for Math and Science. We were also given a very large contribution to the film by a charity that will remain nameless.
I would have gladly put my money into the film as well but the budget is capped by the Screen Actors Guild. We were not allowed to spend a penny more.
I don't quite understand your issue of having our project financed on the merit of the material? If Steven Spielberg is given a budget of $100Mil should it matter that he opts to be dropped off at set in his helicopter?
The contributors gave us money because they believed in the message in our product. What I choose to do with my $$$ is up to me. And believe you me. There was no extra cash. I'm sure 24fps can atest to that
E.J. - No Basketball hoops or transpo's..... I PROMISE
The Pope - Obviously you have never driven one of these vehicles. I can promise you this, I will give you a run for your money. Don't believe me, meet me at the track and put your money where your mouth is. Just don't be too embarassed when I dive bomb you in turn 2.
Sorry for the misquote on the Auto thing.. Guess I was wrong. I just remember reading a few years ago that BMW's requirement for a M badge was a high reving manual. I guess I'm wrong or maybe they changed the rule ??

But, of course, my son. I shall be at Monza later this week. Which Popemobile would you like me to bring?

Wow, that's a pretty harsh post for a NOOB, Mr. Pope. Gang, I fear we may have a new Agro on our hands.
Clutchless manual my butt. Any transmission that shifts on its own is an automatic. You're telling me that the new E60 M5 is not? I don't believe it for a minute. Besides, I thought those clutchless manuals had a clutch, just not a clutch pedal.
To my knowledge, the SMG Transmission does indeed have a clutch, just an electrohydraulically activated one, much like the Ferrari F1 system. True, it doesn't have a clutch pedal, but when changing gears in the F1 or SMG 'box, you can hear the clutch engage/disengage, hence the "manual" designation of it. Audi's new DSG has 2 clutches, but no clutch pedal...
As for the Porsche Tiptronic system, that IS an automatic as it has a torque converter...the SMG, DSG and the F1 Tranny do not I myself was not a believer in the SMG-type trannys until driving my Dad's M3--it is quite impressive and can bang out shifts faster than most drivers could in its most aggressive setting...
That said, I'll stick with a clutch pedal that I can depress myself...just my $.02, as I think that a conventional auto/tiptronic box is MUCH different in behavior than a paddle-shift electrohydraulic clutch type-tranny
