Steve,

I suppose this is a question of preference. You have stock wheels and like them, therefore it may make sense to simply refinish them. I am not a fan of stock wheels and decided to go into the aftermarket for mine. I considered the Speedlines but decided against them as the wheel manufacturer that I went with is near me (easy to make changes, corrections, etc..). If you are focused on OEM than definitely either stick with your current wheels or go with the Speedlines. Here are mine. Including tires, they are in the same price range as the Speedlines. I don't know about the quality of other wheels but I can tell you from experience that I will only stick with three piece forged from now on. I hit a curb hard with my wheels - held up amazingly well (can't say the same for my alignment).

Alex - as you already know, those wheels of yours look GREAT on your car. Do you have any more pics, maybe some side shots from a little furthur away? I love looking at your wheel pics! Makes me happy.

You may be onto something... I DO love my wheels. The simplicity of the Turbo Twist stock C4S wheel is great for cleaning, and blending in with the masses. Sometimes, I really do just want to just blend it. For some reason the thought of going to those hot RH deep dish wheels is seeming more "blingy" to me after deliberating about it for a while and studying those pics some more. Not that there's anything wrong with that for those of you that have them, but it may be too bold a statement for my mild manner ways .

I'm still not decided. Just weighing the options. I spent quite a bit of time detailing the car last night in the pitch black as usual (it gets dark really early here!) and after pulling it into the garage, I just sat back and admired my beautiful but a bit worse for wear wheels. Only if you look at it closely do you see the marks. Mostly, I do! Most others wouldn't have given them a thought.

Sucks being so particular sometimes!

Thus the Bling Bling. I PSed em, but I have not learned how to fix sizes yet. You get the point.
Half the cars here in Atl. look like that by design.

Seriously, I like these wheels more every time I look at them and I get soooo many compliments. It's the same feeling as looking down the sexy curvy sides of our cars. Well almost.
I like the tt wheels, but you will not regret upgrading, whatever wheel you decide on. Personalizing. The Harley effect.

Found a couple in my file directory. The last one has my "painted" calipers in it, the first two are from pre-painted caliper. Here goes:

These are they RH AG-Cup wheels. A similar look. I had these on my car for about a week, Wrong offset! No comments on the SUV height needed. It has been corrected!

This is what I ended up with. I like it a lot. But if I had the chance to go with the OEM RS wheels, well....

You got me Steve, I just love the wheel in my office. My wife doesn't understand it at all though, but that's simply because she's a woman. I once had a set of perfect DCOE 40 twin Webers on the bookshelf in my office, still on the sidedraft manifold and looking absolutely gorgeous. I'd come into the office everyday and just be happy to see them there, fantastic engineering meets industrial beauty. Anyway, I'd find em on the floor by the back door several times with her telling me to "put the junk back in the garage."
Lord Anthony Hogmanay Melchett once said that dealing with the French "Was like trying to teach a woman the benefits of a good forward defense"

Best Regards
Ian

This post reminds me of what it's like to be married for a while. You start talking like your spouse, dressing at the same "level" as your spouse when you go out together, and shifting your interests and dreams to coincide with your spouse! What you folks find appealing is what I'm starting to shift over to (that "dark side") and find appealing too.

Akokodesh: Great pics, thanks for the side view shots.

Randy M - Interestingly enough, I'm starting to like the MY 02 5 spoke wheels you have ALOT! They look better on your car than the pics of the RH cup wheels.

Riviera 93 - Your wheels on that Riviera Blue car are amazing. You must smile very wide every time you wash your car, clean the wheels, then step back and look at it. It's not just a car, it's a work of 90's art!

If you need the bolts, 911 & Porsche World had an article (about a 964 turbo?) within the last 6 months (I'll look tonight) where these were sourced in Germany for much cheaper than P.

Seems unlikely you'll get any support other than Porsche. Apparently, Porsche had 2 sets made for each car that had them fitted. Could be Speedline does not make them anymore...

I contacted Kinesis and this what they emailed back to me... thought some of you might find this interesting.

"Hi Steve,

Thank you for your interest in Kinesis Motorsport. I just left you a message
on your voicemail.

We are currently in the process of producing a new wheel that will be an
updated version of our discontinued Supercup cast wheel. This upcoming line
will be offered in 18" reverse drop center and 19" standard for Porsches
only.

Our reverse drop center wheels have a flat outer lip. We use a larger
diameter center than their standard wheel counterpart. To achieve this, the
step in the outer rim (where you see the valve stem on a standard wheel) is
moved to the back of the wheel. Because of the longer spoke, the reverse
drop center appears to be a larger wheel and because the outer rim is not
interrupted by changes in diameter it appears to be deeper. We utilize one
of the assembly bolt holes to house the valve stem. Please go to
http://www.kinesismotorsport.com/K58R.htm to see an example of a reverse
drop center wheel.

We expect the new Supercup cast wheel to be available Spring 2005. We will
post pictures on our website as soon as they become available.

Please contact Alan Baylis, Sales Manager, at (800) 888-6754 or +1 (760)
598-5300 to discuss your specifications in more detail or if you'd like to
place an order in advance.

If your wheel needs are more immediate please let us know. We offer a wide
range of one and three piece wheels that are available within four weeks
from the time you place your order. Also, if you're concerned about weight I
would highly recommend that you go with one of our three piece forged
wheels. They are considerably lighter than the cast wheels. We're talking
about 20 lbs for an 18x8" standard three piece wheel vs. about 23-25 lbs for
an 18" reverse drop center Supercup wheel of the same size.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Nicole

I'm interested in seeing what they come up with for this new wheel!
