Question Insurance Recommendations

Any solid recommendations for car insurance? I'd like to deal with a company that recognizes the value of our cars. Thanks.

Jeff,

I've been very pleased with State Farm over the years. They've always been very fair about settlements. For example, I recently "totalled" a 1999 Ducati 900SS (about $6,000 in damage). I paid $8,000 for it about a year ago, and State Farm came up with a value of $8,100. Had a similar good experience with a 1991 Q45 a few years back.

Also, my agent informs me that I will be covered in the event of a mishap during a DE event - as long as it is not a timed event or actual racing.

I pay about $90 / month, with a $1,000 deductible. The car is my daily driver.

I also have my life, home, umbrella with them. Good luck with your decision.

I would contact Chubb Insurance Co. They specialize in high end autos and homes. The have an "agreed value" option which can be very useful.

Yup, I'm considering switching after my current term is up with them.

Why is that?

I'm currently with them and considering going with someone else.

Becuase they recently changed their policy to disallow covering damage at DE events.

The wording is very clear. Other than that, I would stay with Allstate.

That's funny because I just met an Allstate agent at the POC Short track event at Streets of Willow this past weekend. He gave me his card with the impression that things were covered. He told me how they covered his friend when he dropped his bike on the track. He did admit he was a little surprised but, none the less, said it was covered? Not that I am with Allstate, I asked for a quote (from this guys assistant) and they could not put me on as a preferred customer, their quote was DOUBLE the ridiculous price I pay now!! <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" />

Cheers,
Dylan.

I use Chubb.... here is what they offer;

"The Agreed Value Option lets you set the value of your car for an entire year. You and Chubb can agree on a value and lock it in for a full year. That's the exact amount you'll receive if your car is stolen or totaled in a covered loss. (Never mind the 'book' value). We even waive the deductible. No haggling, no depreciation, no deductible, no problem. ""

price is about $650/year with $500 deductible

This is a for a 1996 993TT. My 3.0 X5 is about $100 more,. with the same coverage.

Thanks Jeff,

Funny though, like Dylan, I asked my Allstate agent if DE's are covered, he said yes. He said that they can't limit where one drives his car, as long as it is not a race or timed event...

John,
Sounds like a good deal. Do you know if they will transfer your coverage to KY. A lot of companies have pulled out of this market.
