Question 996TT Wheels/Tires

I am in the process of buying a set of wheels and tires from a 2001 996 Turbo for track use. Does anyone know how I can be sure that these are the hollow spoke turbo rims? I believe the part number from the rim is 996.362.136.04. The rim also has the following numbers listed: FR-4100N (below what I think is the part number), GK-Al12MG-wa. This is from the front wheel.

In addition, I thought I was getting them with PZeros, but the set I am now being offered has the Continental Sport Contact2 tires on them. I know these are OEM, but I was wondering if I should press for the Pzeros. These are take offs from a new car. Thanks for the help.

Bill,

You don't really need a part number to tell the hollow spoke wheels from the monoblocks. The hollow spokes have a metal valve stem while the monoblocks have rubber ones. However, the part number you listed appears to be a new one. The original 996 Turbo wheels had these part numbers:

Hollow spoke:
Front: 996.362.136.00
Rear: 996.362.142.00

Monoblock:
Front: 996.362.136.01
Rear: 996.362.142.01

I have heard reports that the new Conti Sport Contact 2 is superior to the older Sport Contact. Personally, I have experience with the P-Zero and like them very much in the dry grip area. I would choose them over the Conti's.

Thanks Viken - looks like they are the real deal. The seller says he likes the Continental Tires better (of course) - he was selling 3 sets of these, so I think he sent the PZeros to someone else.

Happy Hildays to me!
