Post clutch action?

What is the advantage of having the clutch on the floor vs coming out from the top?

Simpler to hook up to the powertrain?

(I admit, after ~6 months I'm still getting used to it...)

It's because that is what Dr. Porsche did on the Volkswagen for simplicity.

If your throttle and clutch have to run to the back of the car, do you want the linkage to have to go up into the dash, or straight down the central tube? He opted for down the middle. It was carried forward from there.

Reason for asking is I always driven where the clutch pedal is from the top and wondered is it easy to get used to the floor mounted clutch pedal. There's a C2S at a dealer lot and I never driven a 993 so I'm curious is how it rides. Only other car I driven was a friend's 930 turbo (1979)
but given it's age and not so cared for condition I was hitting the stalk with abandon. Thanks for the responses. Regards. Mike

Before I caught the 993 bug, this was the single biggest concern about owning a pre 996 911.
Now that I have well and truly caught the bug('Fraid I have a terminal case of it) and been driving the car on a daily basis for the last 15 months, I really cannot understand what I was concerned about. I know switch between the 993 and other 'regular' top hinged cars without noticing any differences.

My guess is that it will be a non-issue for you.
