Ruf wheels rubbing....plan B...can I replace only the front suspension??
Someone mentioned that I might need to replace my entire suspension in order to allow wheel clearance due to the large diameter of the Porsche springs. If I do have to do this, can I replace only the front suspension assemblies to get clearance? In other words, can I mix a front suspension from one aftermarket manufacturer with my rear factory ROW M030? Thanks in advance!
No, you don't have to change the suspension if you didn't want to. Just get the spacers from Weissach and you'll be happy. However, if you ever decide to change anything in your suspension, you MUST change all four corners.
Thanks Viken, I admit I was in a panic when I read the post that I was going to have to change the suspension! I just put the M030 on! The spacers from Weissach are on my desk as I type, next-day-air to me,arrived today. They'll go on tonite. Thanks again for the information.

Maybe someone was just trying to sell you something?
Jeff, you may already know this, but Weissach is one of a couple of North American distributors of Ruf products etc.
Their phone # is 800-665-6688. So far, Asgar and Andrew have been real helpful, but I'm still on the hunt for a solution for my clearance problem. Btw, there is a special with free shipping going on, however I'm not certain if it might have ended Nov 30. E-mail me if you'd like any more specific info. (macc4s@aol.com)
You don't mention what size your front rims are, unless I missed an earlier topic. I came over to the 993 board to look for something related to Ruf rims. Now I'm curious what front rim sizes you're running, because it sounds like you have suspension contact and not only wheelwell contact under full lock. I came here to ask if anyone with a C2S feels like they have an understeer problem associated with the 225 front tires and 285 rears. I'm about to put 8.5"x18" Ruf rims on the front of my RSA and 225/40s are the biggest tire that will fit comfortably. In the rear, on the other hand, it looks like 275/35s will fit on the 9.5" rear rims. I'm running 265/35s on a set of 18" Fikses right now. A friend of mine mentioned though that I may experience an overall understeer 'feel' with 275 rear tires. Are you running a narrow body or an 'S'? what size tires are you running? Sorry if a lot of this is unrelated to your topic. Just thought you guys might have some thoughts on this. Thanks.
Thanks for the info on the rims.. For me, I'd rather spend the money on other go fast parts and just get another set of 993 Hollow Turbo rims/tires for the track. But they sure look nice. Do post some pictures when you get a chance.

Good one DJ.. Mculla, hang around on this board to find out who you can trust and who you should not.
I was trying to search in the archive for the exact article, but I think it might have been lost in the Rennlist DeathStar (Hard Drive Crash) experience.

Rich, My Ruf fronts are 8.5", I mistakenly put in another thread on this issue that they were 8". I feel extremely ignorant, but I don't recognize the shorthand for your car (RSA). I have 225/40 on the wheels and both Weissach and Ruf in Germany have said that they should work, but of course they don't currently. I am waiting for mail from Ruf in Germany on the problem and am getting (as always) killer great advice from the people on this board. I will keep this up to date as I will be putting on the spacers that Weissach sent me tonite. Fingers crossed. By the way, these are 18" diameter wheels.
RSA stands for an RS America which was a slightly decontented 964 Carrera 2. It is my understanding that the same RUF wheels work on the 964 but you are better off checking with Weissach about that.
Jeff, Thanks for the heads up! Even with only about 2 months using these folks expertise, it becomes obvious pretty fast who everyone trusts for the bottom line input!
