Default 993tt trade

I am curious as to how reliable the tt will be if I get one. Going from a 6100 mile 2003 GT2 with full warranty to a 96/97 tt w/o warranty makes me nervous................Are these cars bulletproof? Do they hold up to occaisional track use? Are they decent track cars w/o expensive mods? Would a 97/98 C2S be worth looking into for the same use ( Sunday drives.............Sunday track days.................Thanks!

yeap... pretty much bulletproof... the aircooled engines are tried and tested. And yeap they are pretty fast track cars do for the occassional DE
As for mods? a nice suspension and a set of MPSC's is all you need really.
Have you driven a 993 TT?

Never have driven a 993 tt. I like the idea of air cooling. I anticipate a great sounding engine...................perhaps with a different exhaust system. Have found a few cars out there with between 13K and 40K. Some with GT2 turbos, ecus, etc. Not sure what to think re the modded cars..........Am looking forward to test driving a tt soon. Any thoughts on buying a car from an out of state dealer without a personal inspection.......................there seems to be a few out there with good reputations that guarantee the car to be as presented or they will buy it back. I would only be out the $1000 for shipping. The agreement would also hold true for the GT2 on their end. Thanks!

Why get rid of what you have? That sounds like a perfect car for what you are talking about.

I have to ask the same question. Why trade what you have? That is an awesome car.
tt are great cars. Most owners say they are bulletproof up to about 70k when the turbos need rebuilding.

I think you are crazy. I love my 993tt but I would take a GT2 in a second if I had the $.

Craig; If you like PM me. scottmellor@karenschiltz.com.
I live near by and would be happy to take you out in my highly modded tt so you can get a feel for one.
I'm very happy with my car as it does all the things you are looking for. I commuted to Port Hueneme over Portrero Road for a year, I take it to the track 4/5 times a year, and I do Sunday drives with the family. It has been the perfect all-rounder for me.
I have put almost 18,000 miles on it in two years and the only trouble I had was a blown-off turbo hose.

Craig,

I think you should consider waiting for the 997TT. You won't have fun with your kids in a pcar for a few years anyhow. I doubt the GT2 will devaluate a lot more.

97 turbo now with 139K miles, bought with 3K miles in 98. Original clutch, rotors, pads, turbos. No track. Daily driver.

Items replaced/fixed: litronic bulb, slave cylinder, accumulator, signal tree, lifter X2, fuel pump, battery.

Pretty solid.

All right it's late and I'm tired, but did you just say you put 136,000 miles on a set of pads???

Wow! I new big reds lasted awhile but that seems incredible. 136k was based on when you got the car....
