Default Wheel "?" "Is that your final answer?"

Over the last couple months I've read some conflicting information regarding fitment of 996 turbo wheels on 993's.
I really adore the new style turbo wheel design and am looking at fitting a set on my 993 C2.
I know my factory offsets are 50/65. On eBay I frequently see 996 TT wheels going for sale in 47mm rear offsets. I know these won't fit (stick out too far?) but I keep reading the factory makes these wheels in a 10/11/ and 12 (ala GT2) inch wheel.
Is this a case of Porsche urban legend, or is this white elephant of TT wheel a reality? Did Porsche make a 996 TT style wheel in a narrow body offset?

There's a guy on eBay selling knock-offs of the TT wheel in the correct offset (10 in. rear wheel) for a NB 993, but I really don't want "made in Italy" imitations.

Can someone shoot this horse for me please?

regards,

And for the record, here is a photo of the replica 10 in. wheel, I refered to above:

Again, my gut is telling me the factory would not make a 996 "turbo" wheel for a non- "turbo" car, but perhaps I am wrong in this regard?

Leland, I like the 996 TT wheels as well, but have never found narrow body offsets for rears. I would stay away from replica wheels as they tend to be really heavy. How about my'02 carrera wheels? I love the looks of those..

Yup! They sure do. The Turbo II wheel is also available in narrow body sizes. However, they are of the solid spoke variety (Turbo Look II).

8" x 18" - ET50
10" x 18" - ET65

The factory 996 Turbo rear wheels are 11" wide with a 45 mm offset. They won't fit a narrow body 996 or 993.

Sorry for the hijack here, but 24fps, I see you work in the video industry?? May I ask what you do? BTW, the 11" rears with 45mm offset 996tt wheels work fine on an S....:-|..........oh, I mean they look great.

You are totally correct Viken, as usual! I have these very wheels on my 95C2 and they fit great with 235/35-18s and 285/30-18 Pilot Sports. My wheels were ordered through the Porsche Exclusive Programme. I got mine on ebay from Suncoast Porsche as take offs. I have never seen another set in the NB offsets.

BTW, the 11s will not fit a NB car with rolled fenders. It is just too tight. Now, if you installed a set of GT2 flares...that would do the trick!

I found these on eBay tonight.
Are these an example of factory 10" 996 TT wheels in a 65mm rear offset?
Something about the word turbo "look" has me sceptical.

hello Lee,
i will try to help you with some of the wheel nomenclature, IIRC

-Turbo I "Technology" wheels = 993 18 inch twists, hollow spoke
-Turbo Look I wheels = 993 18 inch twists, solid spoke
-Turbo II wheels = 18 inch 996 twists, hollow spoke
-Turbo Look II = 18 inch twists, solid spoke.

would a 996 C4S (widebody) really use an et65 wheel??
I would ask for a picture of the part numbers, width, and offset numbers from the inside of the wheels.

Factory Porsche 11" wheels will not fit because the offset is wrong; however, aftermarket wheels with the proper offset WILL fit on a narrowbody, esp if the fenders have been rolled. Custom offsets from Kinesis, Fikse, HREs, etc will do the trick, although there are a few 11" rims out there w/o custom offsets that will fit as well.
