Guys, I have seen quite a few versions of the 993 CTR2. Some appear to show the car based on a standard 993 wide body, whilst others are "mega wide bodys". My question- was the CTR2 ever also built on a standard narrow body?
To my knowledge, there was never a narrow-body version of the CTR2. Only the original CTR has the narrow-body. RUF originally only offered narrow-bodies because he wanted top speed. With the CTR2 he apparently dropped this approach.
As far as i know, Ruf will build you a car according to any spec you want...
the only limitation is money
what are you looking for in a car?
Are you looking to spank supercars? or are you looking for the ultimate track car?
Actually, am for the moment considering a less exhorbitant conversion like a BTR2- needs to be totally streetable. I have also been always extremely attracted to the CTR2 with 2 wheel drive (as they were offered standard), though I am not too sure RUF would build one of these as a conversion-and to be honest am a bit scared to ask the price if it could be done. Key issue for me here in Spore is how to legally put the car back on the road as it would leave as a normally aspirated car and come back as a turbo....
hate to bust you bubble...
not possible...
ok.. possible, but not within limits of normal feasibility.
For a CTR2 conversion, expect to pay at least about the full value of you current car, in order to achieve the desired results. (not enticing anymore?)
Btr2 is much more affordable... but.. is your current car going to be able to withstand the power increase?.. Ruf will demand that a full rebuild, given the age of the car... if you want a reliable conversion.
There are 2 CTR2 Sports for sale at RUF Autocentre (you can salivate on them at www.rufautocentre.com) here in Dallas. I got to drive one of them - What a rush! It has the servo controlled 6 speed (no clutch!) and was so easy to drive it would make a decent daily driver.
When the boost comes on, however, LOOK OUT and HOLD ON!!
I do not know what the exchange rate is from Singapore to Euros, but at this time withthe dollar in the tank, even a BTR conversion is pricey. I looked into it recently for my C4S, and engine work is 30k euros, extra oil cooler, tail, blah, blah, and you end up spending about 55kUSD (without any major interior upgrades from RUF, and wihtout the need for new wheels or brakes). That does not include shipping or the cage - for that, you have to go to Germany (or maybe Canada?), according to the guys in Texas. That is very expensive.
