I bought my latest 993 2+ years ago via E-Bay. It didn't sell there so I spent the next 3 weeks talking/negoiating with the owner. He picked me up at the airport in his new 996TT and let me drive that car back to his house encouraging me to open it up on the frwy (didn't really take all that much encouragement). The 993 Cab was perfect of course, and we've remained friends to this day.

That's a really cool story. I was hoping to find a car like that (and friends!) , or through my local Porsche garage (I know the owner) so that the mechanics know the car.

I saw the '98 C2S at Pacific- somehow it's harder for me to believe these used car guys, even if they are high end used cars. Maybe it's just me?

Well, we have time. It's a fourth car anyway. I'd rather not rush it!

bought it & drove it cross state..... n i c e . will do my next 993 the same.

tsy911,

For me it's a 993.

As far as the 996 goes, I totally agree with everything Martin says. Even the Cab top fitment in the 996. Much, much better look flush.

I don't know the entire story here but for some not so nice 996 issues, see this thread in the 996 forum:

I SURRENDER - $40,000 IN REPAIRS IN 1,100 Miles

Good luck in whichever way you go.

I have just put up for sale a 1998 C2 "S" Tiptronic with factory aerokit II and other interesting options, 47k miles and in superb condition. It also has several careful and well-accepted upgrades using original Porsche and Bilstein parts. Some very unflattering pictures (before car was lowered to Euro ride height and other features added) can be viewed via the link in my sig file below. The car is in superb shape, has unusual features and has been extremely well maintained. I am selling the car only as an absolute last resort to help pay for uncovered medical costs, I underwent surgery last week and have many more to go.

The car is being sold for me by Dave Maynard of European Locators (www.europeanlocators.com). Dave is a longtime PCA member and National Scruitineer for the Porsche Club Racing series, do a search or ask around to determine his reputation, he is not a used car salesman. If you are interested please email Dave for more info, it is a very difficult situation for me so I am not the best one to talk about the car. Thank you.

Thanks Rich, really appreciate the kind words. I am one of those nutty guys who gets joy out of my cars on many levels, so this is a challenging time for me as I sell the 993.

But, at least I am here to complain about it, right?! And I have loved and owned Porsches most of my adult life, so I'll fight my way back to having a P-car in may garage again someday. I have beat the odds on this disease of mine, so I should certainly be able to do so when it comes to car ownership. Anyway, thanks again, and enjoy that beautiful car.
