Cursed Upgrades are killing me $$

You're ALL weak.
These cars are just fine right out of the box. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />
Note: I've found that payroll deductions with your favorite wrench works best.

Vinny, I agree they are great out of the box, but one day I will need the 3.8 upgrade due to worn valve guides. Might as well while we are in there.

Warning: Speaking of upgrade$, don't EVER do this. I learned the hard way:
1st.. Always itemize all of your P-car expenses in Quicken or whichever financial software you use. Include everything... Upgrades, DE and/or racing, hotels and meals for same, autoX, tires, brakes, maintenance, accident repair, resprays, the whole schebang.
2nd.. "Just for curiosity sake" run a report showing your yearly P-car expenses vs. your housing expenses. (I even included my mortgage and taxes under 'housing'.) Trust me, the results can be "interesting". Denial goes out the window in one fell swoop.
3rd.. Here's the good part. Never, ever do this while, unbeknownst to you, your wife is in the same room, when as you look at the numbers for the first time you say out loud "Holy shi$!!" To which you hear, "What's that? Let me take a look."
Thank God, my wife is absolutely terrific and understands my problem. I love her dearly, and she also may read this.

Gentlemen, let's not forget the tools! I just spent $600 on my first oil change (mostly on a tool set that is). The excuse to my wife is that the tools can be used on our other cars too. Think about all the money I'll be saving!

Also never let the tire guy at a Club Race walk your invoice over and give it to your wife. Now everything is compared to sets of tires. I hear this a lot now. "But Honey this is less than one set of tires."

I know how you know!
Would you mind explaining where those go?
I know the rear deck & seats but how about those verticals, are they for side panels & then those two first ones, where do they go?
(I'm thinking of getting only carpets for rear deck, side panels & seats, would that be possible or do I need them all)?
Thanks!

These posts remind me of the report that my Mileage Plus visa sent at yearend. My wife really appreciated it. They thought they were being helpful by doing an analysis of all charges throughout the year...broken into categories like travel, etc. Bar charts and everything The "auto" category looked like Mt Everest on the bar chart page...30k service, clutch, Euro bumper...
Thank gawd Rod Birch is listed at Visa under "consumer electronics" or somthing. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" />

I knew I might get in trouble for posting DIY in the same sentence as Andial LWF. Actually I was quite happy with the original setup (Dual-Mass) but the replacement parts; DMF, PP, Disc, T/O was actually more than the Andial Unit. I would have gone with the RS unit but didn't want to deal with
the 95 stalling issue. Car runs great now, no slipping clutch. Downside - at idle warmed up in garage sound like I'm polishing agates. If there is enough interest I might get enthused enough for a write-up. Until then keep sending you questions, and I'll do my best to answer them.
Kudos to Arnold at Andial (no affiliation) a real (German) gentleman and very helpful.
Section 125 pre-tax defferal to Porsche Fund..That might help!

"The original piece was worn out, so I would have spent almost that much replacing it." "The labor was paid for anyway, so I might as well replace it with the upgrade."

Gemballas wheels are harder to justify. Any suggestions?

Thanks Kim,
I was also thinking that would be the place for them.
"mine are all still in a box..."
That is so you Kim...
(oh well, I have 993 ducktail, RS splitters and cat by-pass still in the box...) <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />

This is a tough one. Try playing the 'safety' card.
