Question OT: palm desert/springs suggestions?

hey listers (posting here, as 993ers seem to have better taste than most)

making last minute plans for thanksgiving in the desert for a couple days.... (a bit embarassed to say i haven't been there in years for more than a hike or a quick 'run').
wanted some help in finding a nice place for "t.g. dinner" & hotel on a nice golf course. was thinkin' of takin' my dad out for a nice 19 holes the next day ....

thanks for any thoughts

Seege is a resident. I'm sure he will chime in shortly. However, the La Quinta/PGA West resort is very nice. Play the Greg Norman course, it's a challenge.

I live in Palm Desert and the Hotel and Inn selection varies greatly. Since golf is on the agenda the two places that come to mind are the Hyatt Grand Champion and the Marriott Desert Springs. I believe each has three or four championship level courses as well as first rate dining options. The Marriott has a giant atrium with canals and gondolas, I think it would be my first choice.Wherever you plan on staying, book now as that is the beginning of "The Season" here and it will be packed.

My $.02....

I regularly stay at The Lodge in Rancho Mirage (formally The Ritz Carlton):
http://ranchomirage.rockresorts.com/info/htl.asp
It's up on a hill overlooking the valley with fabulous views. The conciere's can arrange access to Mission Hills or PGA West among others.

For great food and ambiance, I absolutely love the new Cuistots Restaurant on the corner of Hwy 111 and El Paseo. http://www.desertdiningguide.com/res...tot/index.html

I'll be there the weekend of Nov.12th.....

I just checked availability via their website, The Lodge has room available for $169. Wed & Thurs, $229 Fri, and $199. Sat.
That's incredibly cheap for this time of year. Wherever you go I agree with CJ, book it now.

You can rent a condo in PGA West...I used to own one there and I can look up some folks who handle the rentals. I might even have the number for the folks who bought ours. Lemme know...it was on the Palmer course.

Cheers

Went to a restaurant called St. Germaine (spelling?) that my Wife and I really liked. I would definitely recommend. Have fun.

Besides the hotel restaurants I think good steak houses usually put out good holiday feasts. I would try Wally's Desert Turtle ( HWFMR West Coast Steak House?)in Rancho Mirage, Sullivans in Palm Desert, The Cliffhouse or Sage Grill in LaQuinta.
