Thanks for posting this great experience Bill. The wife has her heart set on the new R Wagon when they arrive (i just love her). Not that I would expect to get a deal from Phil, but I would rather spend my money and support Phil over the local dealers.

Freier - Phil had the R coupe in stock (it had just arrived) and we got to test drive it (see initial post above). If Phil is getting a R wagon in stock I am sure he would work a deal for you. A 300 HP wagon - now that would be fun when you dust a 993 from a stoplight
(not that I encourage that type of behavior).

My wife wants a S60R for herself now. 6Months ago we bought a new S60 T5, now she wants more power. (Good for her)
I wonder if the S60R is worth the extra 50hp and the Brembo brakes?

Chris - if your wife is happy with the T-5 and merely wants more power, you should check www.ipdusa.com as they offer performance ECU programming for Volvos. I believe they can program an S60-T5 to put out 280HP/300TQ.

Nuff Said (actually, nuff read)...Phil, the god- father of one of my daughters is in the market for a Volvo or a Mercedes as we speak. Granted he is not a Porsche owner, he is still a very good person
I just left him a VM. I will put him in touch with your dealership tomorrow.
His name is Jamie...

I ended up selling my Volvo to my parents for the same price as the trade in offer (they got a great deal and they love the 850). By the way, it sure is a pleasure to drive a car that has a nice functioning climate control system, a good stereo, and windshield wipers that really do clean the windows. Maybe Porsche should take a trip to the Volvo factory.

It ain't a luxury car.

You guys are so easy to bait
I almost added that perhaps Porsche did visit the Volvo factory before releasing the 996.
Really, though, it is hard to argue that Porsche could have done a better job with many of the little things with very little effort on their part. I am having to spend almost $2000 to get the AC to work well on my 930. Unfortunately that is not really a luxury item when you need to drive through the desert to get to the California tracks. I actually got a pretty good case of heat exhaustion last summer driving in 100 degree heat with no working AC for about 6 hours.

Hey E.J. - well that is certainly true. I am not at the level of trackdom as say Kim is. Our Porsches are all daily drivers. Luckily I live on the coast where it is cool.
Anyway - I digress. I suppose Phil could get me a truck to tow the car to the track (although I think the Volvo could tow the car as well).
