If you simply state the true facts "Officer, the guys on Rennlist told me to do this", you will be fine. Errr.... I meant "fined". I think I'll start carrying that extra front license plate in the car... for emergency use.

There are some cars where putting on a front license plate should be a felony... sheesh.

Bumper Plugs.

Don't know the law in Texas (where I now live). In CA I got a ticket once. Fixed it and promptly took it off. Cosmetically the difference is significant enough that once you take it off its hard to put it on again.

I should've mentioned..when the officer asked me where my plate was..i told him,in my garage..I don't like how it looks on the car.And the fact that I had my Valentine One stuck to the window didn't apparently help the cause.I'll put it on,get the inspection, pay the ticket and then take the plate off and wait for the next time..

YEAH!!!!
Porsches should be exempt from having front plates.
I lived in "LaCalifusa" and never ran a front plate in 35 years of driving P cars. Now we moved to a state that doesn't require a front plate. I don't think they care if you don't have a REAR plate!!!!

I keep it in a fed Ex envelope on my back seat. In the envelope I also have the "IOU" from the P dealer which states he owes me a bracket. "Just waiting on the dealer to mail it officer."

Bumper plugs, and ignoring the law like others here.

BTW, a front plate is a nice flat reflective surface for radar and laser guns. Every lit bit helps...

Bumper plugs and plate in the trunk.

Isn't that why they have that nice pocket?

BTW, Bumper plugs were my first mod to the car. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

I drive way too fast and my car rides way too low--the cops don't need another excuse to pull me over. Also, when I went on a recent test drive for a buddy looking at 911's, the seller got nailed doing 55 in a 35. The FIRST thing the cop did after grabbing his license and insurance card was to check for his front plate.

Seljan: Maybe a front plate wouldn't be so bad if you get a personalized plate that says TI VOM.

No front plate for me, however, I do have it in the trunk just in case I need to display it by the windshield. Certain areas in LA requires front plate to be display.

I walked back to my PARKED car and found the ticket on my windshield. Was this my penalty for being legally parked???

The $25 penalty stinks, but was thankful that at least all I had to do was mail in the "fixed it" card. Then I think about it....This is extortion.

A few weeks back I had a business meeting in San Francisco. When I came out, I saw two tickets on my car. I knew the parking meter had expired, and thought Willie Brown's finest had cited me for each hour I was over.

The first ticket was in fact for an expired meter, $25. Not that big of a deal. The next ticket, time stamped 3 minutes later, was for no front plate and a whopping $100. I called the city to find out what my options were. She pulled the record, made some comment about Porsches, and said I had to pay the full amount.

I'm still researching my options....

Hate to admit it, but I also ride with a frontee. Seems like VA cops are just LOOKING for a reason to pull a 911 over, just to drag their eyes over it if for no other reason. Hard to blame them...but in the meantime, I'm catching bugs with an ugly chuck-a-metal. Go figure...

Cheers,
