Default 993 Window Sticker....

Hey, everyone....

The dude I bought my 1996 C4S from said he had the original window sticker. But, he has been unable to produce it .... for some reason.

Couple questions. Given the VIN # can the sticker be "reproduced"? And, how do I find out what the car cost new?

I gotta tell ya, this is a BIG nut stuck in my craw. I always keep the window stickers of my cars and pass them along to "the next guy". This blows! I don't even know what 'standard' stuff is on the car, what options are on the car, or how much the options cost.

I spent an hour or so in a search here and didn't find anything that related to the new 'sticker' cost of a C4S back in '96. Nuthin' on the Net eitha.

TIA (BTW, IF.... IF.... I figure out how to post a photog of my car, I will... another weekend venture for the technically challenged, eh.)

Bagger,

When I purchased my car in 2000, the seller also did not have the window sticker. I called PCNA in an attempt to secure a reproduction, and was told that the Certificate of Authenticity was my closest option.

Can't help you on the Sticker Issue, however, if you look on the inside of your front hood there should be a label that lists 3 digit option codes.

Go to this link http://www.kindel.com/Porsche/options.asp

Load your codes and you'll at least know what options the car came with from the factory.

BTW, nice car !!!

Anir is correct. Certificate of Authenticity is all that is available.

I have a certificate of authenticity. Not much help rally. Major holes in the system. I think it is nothing more than a cheap ploy by Porsche to suck money from owners without having to really do any work. It is not a high quality product they are selling. That's my 2¢. Cert. is only worth slightly more.

I tried the decoder and entered 8 option codes and I came up with one option : CO2 Catalytic converter

Here is the site with the codes. www.p-car.com/technical/option.html They don't list prices. If anyone knows where to find the prices I would like that info.
Thanks

You can find some information here on base prices:
http://research.cars.com/go/crp/summ...97&modelid=386

You can find pricing info for options on some the the dealership web sites that post pictures of window stickers such as RPM and Premier. I've pieced together the prices for most of my options through these sites due to the lack of an original window sticker.

Let me know what you want prices for. If they are on my window sticker, I'll let you know.

The dealer can pull up a page via the vin # on his computer that has the radio code and the total MSRP for the car. I think it also has the options, but not real sure on that as it's been a while since I did it and I already had the option codes off the trunk sticker.

Here is what I have come up with for mine:

Porsche 993 C4 Carrera Cabriolet $78,350.00

Factory Options
329 - Porsche CR210 AM/FM radio with cassette $315.00
437 - comfort seat left, (Power Seat) ?
438 - comfort seat right (Power Seat) ?
445 - Wheel Rim Caps with Porsche Crest $224.00
454 - Cruise control ?
490 - HI-FI SOUND PKG W/SPEAKERS $930.00
551 - PORSCHE WINDSTOP (DEFLECTOR) $700.00
692 - REMOTE CD CHANGER (6 DISC) $813.00
982 - SUPPLE LEATHER FRONT AND REAR $398.00
M939 SEAR COVERS REAR DRAPED LEATHER ?
Y05 - BRAKE/SHIFTER CARBON/ALUMINUM $813.00

Gas guzzler tax $1,000.00

Destination charge $765.00
MSRP Total $84,308.00 so far...

Still doesn't add up to what the DMV said was the original selling price of $96,000. Other things were added that could have brought it to that price such as the aero kit, rims, silver faced gauges...

I printed the options list from Edmonds.com in 1997 and it lists everything with the list and invoice pricing. I could scan it and email it out if there is interest. The options are listed with the same option numbers we are seeing on out hood sticker.

Cheers!

That would be great! I would love a copy. I had always wished I did that.

All the info we collect can be placed in spreadsheet format, matching options to prices.
I will work on it when more info comes in on this thread. Unless we find some trick site that has already do it. I that case, I'll keep the URL.

JoeS. Your car has a factory Aero Kit, right? It seems that the price of that option is pump into the cars base price. I thought the C4S list was 73,750.00 exactly 10k more than the 2S, 63,750.00 (for the math challenged).
