Thanks Greg,

I think the only difference of significance, between the 75/35 and the pic of my battery in the linked thread, is placement of the positive terminals. In the 75/35, they would be further towards the outside of the car when installed. Doesn't look like this is a problem, considering your own and several other people's experience.

On the other hand, the 34/78 won't work, because its posts are too far from the battery edge, making it impossible to mount the positive terminal, with its rigid 90 degree bend.

The photo below illustrates what I'm trying to express, with approximate post locations:

The 75/35 posts may be even further towards the outside of the car than shown. Hard for me to tell exactly from photos of the 75/35.

BTW, dirty battery contacts can create this symptom, even with a strong battery. If your contacts are corroded, try cleaning them before replacing the battery.
