Well Alan color me impressed, as a great friend of mine used to say back when he was climbinga few of the worlds mountains and I was exploring South East Asian beach villages, both of us on the cheap. "those are memories that they can't take away from us". Sounds like you have had plenty of your own, don't you wish you could see Steve around town and reminisce about the old days?

I was wondering if anyone was going to mention The Italian job. I've only seen the ripoff and have been looking for the old one with no luck, well to be honest no luck having time and an interested girlfriend at once.

The 'victory' symbol is made with the palm facing forward. The insult is made with the back of the hand facing forward. Everything else is the same - the difference is just a rotation of the wrist

Try "The Driver" with Ryan O'Neal. Bangs up a few cars (not always the one he's driving). No exotics, but pretty amazing what you can do with a pickup and a big block.

Default Not sure how many motorcycle fan we have but...

Faster

This is a documentary about the transition from 500cc Big Bang GP bikes to the current MotoGP setup. Fantastic footage with Rossi and Biaggi with commentary from the late Barry Sheene, the legend Doohan, the champion Rainey, and the hero with bra$$ ball$ Schwantz.

BUY IT and watch the Obi Wan (Ewan McGregor, the narrator) hooligan with some of the racers in Cannes, France.

Speed Merchants and The Quick & the Dead are both great movies/documentaries of racing in the early 70s (F1 & Sportscars).

You ain't kiddin my friend. He was really something else. A guys guy from the word go, not that the ladies didn't love him too. Men like that don't come around that often, he had everything a guy would want... and want to be. Not to mention he was a common man kinda guy too, no pretences, you could just tell. It's funny, I have a special feeling for Mqueen and feel connected to him as though we shared a bond somehow. It's too bad he died so young.

Not to be picky but that was an S8, a very nice car. I thought of getting one of those as well.

Father of 3: you're absolutely right. I'm mildly horrified that I goofed that up, particularly since I really like that car (at least until Audi started messing around with its schnozz). Around everyone else I know, I can get away with the occasional lazy car reference (usually there isn't anyone around who wants to hear about cars anyway). Around this crowd, though ... it's like a whole bunch of me, but more successful, knowledgeable, etc. I hereby pledge to be more careful with my fact-checking!
