This chap I met who runs Thunderhill in a cart (turning 1:55 lap times - yowza that's fast
) raved about this product. He seemed like he had no affiliation with this stuff....
It's supposed to soften the rubber compounds, making it more sticky, and extending the tires' useable life! (does is also make cappuccino's??)
I know, sounds like snake oil, but just curious if anyone even heard of this stuff.

There is a product called "track claw" that got a good review in Grassroots Motorsports magazine. I am going to get some to see if it helps some older Hoosiers.
Here is the web pagetrack claw web site

It seems to me that softening the compound near the end of tire life might make it more usable until the end, but softening it from the beginning, while increasing "bite", would tend to decrease the life.
Just a thought. I have never used any product like this.

Down south they use TIRE dressing and "soaked" tires are outlawed by NASCAR and many racing series. Its a backyard science and there are several brands of tire softners that do help. I use the stuff all the time to save money and prolong racetires grip. Its very imprortant to apply it very liberally and let it soak in good........some of the NASCAR type racers wrap the tires in cheesecloth and soak it till its sopping wet and then wrapp everything in polyethelene.....let it sit for a week. Much lowere durometer readings and grip are the result. Stinks like hell and all the guys in the pits give you ****......until you pass 'em. I resoak at the end of the day........then put on new tires for qualifying and the race. There are about a dozen brands of this stuff. Goto local speedshop....ask for track bite, track claw and etc.
