Default FYI: 993GT2 production numbers and specs

For Rennlist database.

There is a lot of conflicting information about the street 993GT2 as well as a lot of scam artists trying to sell you one. I have gathered some information that seems quite accurate while comparing to different sources.

Disclaimer: Other sources state different production numbers and could be right. If anyone can confirm or otherwise disagree with these numbers and has info straight from Porsche, please do post.

Some External info:
Used the same pieces as the RS and Cup cars, 993GT2 had aluminum doors and front hood, no sunroof, no HI-FI sound system, no padding under the carpet, thin glass all around and the front windscreen was glued and had a special joint to improve aerodynamics. Keeps the power steering due to the bigger wheels, and A/C is optional. No rear wiper, no front light washing bezels and some other, obviously the flares to fit 9 and 11 " wheels and the GT2 wing improving downforce, airflow to the I/C and deteriorating top speed.

Doors were fitted with the RS panels and manual windows (I believe power windows were an option)

Two series:
1995:

430 hp@5,750RPM , 530 NM@4,500RPM same as the X51 option.
Gearbox type: G50/32 same as Clubsport. Other sources say it is a G50/54 which has the same 1st and 2nd.gear ratios as the the G50/32

Ratios: 1st: 13/41 2nd: 20/40 3rd.: 23/35 4th:29/36 5th:32/33 6th:35/29
so first gear is quite longer than the 993TT and Carrera, up to third gear, then they go shorter ratios from 4th. to 6th. Also 1st. to 3rd. gear are the same as the 993 RS and Clubsport..

LSD: 40%-65%
Sway bars: 22mm Fr and 21mm Rear
Weight: 1290 Kgs (37% Fr/63% Rear)
Tires: 235/40 Fr and 285/35 Rr
Weight/hp: 3.0 Kgs/hp
Vin: wwwpozzz99zts392001 up to wwwpozzz99zts392202 (172 cars out of which 20 were Clubsport)

1998
Same as above except
450 hp and no aluminum doors.
Vin: wwwpozzz99zts392001 up to wwwpozzz99zts392081 (21 cars were produced)
Competition cars had VIN: wwwpozzz99zts393001 instead of 392001

Acceleration numbers vary between different sources, as a ballpark figure 0-200 kph is around 13 seconds.

These cars are not as rare as the 381 hp 964 Turbo S (81 produced worldwide) but they definitely are faster, and they have power steering! Same source quoted the Turbo S at 14.4 s from 0-200 kph.

Hope you find it useful. If anyone has more or different info, please post.

FWIW, your stated specs are the ones I found.

Had not heard about the windscreen being glued in though...

BTW if your car has manual windows, you will need special (thinner) window winders to clear the vertical pillar of your Heigo cage. I have a pair (machined alu) on the car now. I have the originals too and these will be fitted as part of the winter project. PM me for pic and details.

Ciao

Monique,

Thanks. I am keeping electric windows and stock doors. I want to keep some streetability for the car and the beast engine will compensate for the unlost door weight. Also keeping A/C obviously but the heater is already gone.

The other stuff we discussed I could be interested. Let me know through PM if you have made a decision please.

Thanks Jean! I was just looking at the one in the link that was for sale and wondered how much more of a wheel/tire they put under the wider fenders. The one is the link looks pretty nice. No price though...

Joe, I am putting 265s up front and 315s in the rear..10X18 and 12 X18, you can go really wide with the right offsets.

You're welcome Princeton there's so much more I need to share before paying you guys back!

Another 2 weeks on the body and chassis mechanics, suspension, etc... Engine about 3 more weeks. I am looking for a 94-95 DME harness, and I am done with all the parts.

Got some time to work on yours?
