Question Wheel Lug Nuts

Another DOH! question.

I just bought a torque wrench. Bought a 19mm socket too. I just wanted to confirm that the lug nuts are 19mm.

I dont have a Porsche tool kit with the car so I dont know the answer.

Thanks. <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" />

Yes, it is 19mm. A 6 point thin wall socket will work better.

Typically, sockets are available is 6- and 12-point styles. A "point" is a corner inside the socket. They are used to drive six-sided (hex) nuts and bolts, and, in fact, the six-point socket has the full six sides. The 12-point type has a second set of corners in the middle of each side. Thus, the 6-point type will have a more positive contact with the fastener and is superior for high-torque applications. The advantage of the 12-point type is having twice as many angles that the will permit the tool to slip over the fastener, so there's less "hunting" for a fit.
