Hope you're staying warm in frigid Chicago. Before you know it it will be spring again and all that snow will be a distant memory. Our snow is taking FOREVER to melt. Even on 64 degree days it just sits there in our back yard in 2 foot drifts defying to melt
. Take care,
Steve

No puzzle at all. That's a shot of Pancho Carter in a Cart car at Indy around ten years ago. I believe it was moments before he decided to retire from racing. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />
For a while last night, it disappeared, or was high-jacked, depending on your point of view. First it was inverted -- truly disconcerting -- then replaced with less desirable images. That was what started this thread.
As to personal significance, from time to time I race a formula car, and have seen that happen in front of me. Touching tires in a formula car can be very unpleasant.
I too am looking forward to spring. March definitely came in like a lion. We got 8" of snow yesterday. My new toy is outside covered in it.
Here's to spring and driving again. But here, 64 degrees is considered spring.
I have yet to see a race, but my Uncle in Pennsylvania owns a new Boxster and has really gotten into watching the races on Speedvision, as well as going to see them in person. I know nothing about it, but he keeps asking me to go up to Watkins Glen the next time something is happening up there. So eventually I'll check it out for myself with him. He went to some driving school in Las Vegas and is now addicted to the racing circuit stuff.
I really want to take my 993 out, but all the roads are soaked in filthy run-off water, salt, and road grime from the blackened, disgusting, melting snow on the sides of the roads. I guess I'll need to drive it soon, as I suspect it's not good to let the car sit for more than 3 weeks without a workout. It's just SO clean! Waxed, primped, and ready for the a beauty contest
. Oh well - it's just potholes and water. No big deal, right? I could always dodge those potholes and clean the car after a couple of days of salty, gross conditioned roads.
It reminds me of the story of the older man who's wife had just died. He's going through her lingerie drawers and finds all this expensive, silk lingerie with the tags still on them, that she was saving to wear for a special day ... but she waited too long. You never know when you're not going to be able to use something any longer, so you might as well enjoy the things you have, and use them while you're here.
It's all good

Do some autocrosses and a DE this summer.
Go at your own pace. Your car can handle the track no problem.
It is highly addictive, and soon you'll be babbling about track stuff like the rest of us.
