Warning About VW Cupholder - PLEASE READ
Gang,
I too salute dcpmark for posting about the VW cupholder solution, which has completely restored my fiancee's desire to ride in the P-car (relationships are comprimises I suppose
).
One very important note of caution however...
The posted installation location for the cupholder has the high-voltage relay & battery wiring directly behind the carpet it is attached to. At least on my car, a 1995 coupe, there is a small cutout in the carpet, fastened with two screws, that gives access to this relay & the wiring harness. The easiest solution (what I did) is to simply wrap the harness & relay in a waterproof plastic before installing the cupholder.
Please, please, please, if you are going to use this cuphoder, wrap this wiring in waterproof plastic. Let's all be safe out there!

Good safety tip, Sean! I never even knew what was behind there......I have mine slid as far towards the passenger seat as possible, anyway, to make room for those large drinks........which ALWAYS have a lid on them....
