While playing the computer game "Need For Speed: Porsche Unleashed" I faced a challenge under Factory Driver tests.
The task is to spin car 360 degrees inside the area defined by orange "plastic" cones. It is kind of hard to do on computer (even if PC equipped with PC steering wheel). There is an instruction found in the game documentation "How To Do It". I wonder if this technique apliable to real car...by the way... where do you guys master those tricks? Are they covered/practiced at AutoX events hold by PCA monthly at airports or large parking lots?
Here is the instruction how to do 360 spin from PC game documentation:
"...The 360 spin is hard to master until you figure out that you need
to assist the car a bit with the steering. Approach the cones at
a good speed (80 kph is good). When you just about to reach it,
pull handbrakes and hit hard right. As the car turns 180, reverse
the wheel to hard left and release the brakes. Straighten out
when the car turns all 360 degrees and accelerate out of the
cones.
If you can’t finish the maneuver inside the cones, you’re either
starting too late or going too fast. Slow down, or start a little
earlier than you did..."
Thanks!

I remember that move in the game too. It was a lot of fun. Did you get to the part where you have to do a 180, then drive backwards for alittle bit, and then do another 180?
Although I thought it was a bit ludicrous that I would be driving a computer game when I had the real thing in the garage.
But mistkaes are more forgiving in the game than in real life.

Worn tires, a wet surface and too much throttle exiting a corner will get you 180º without the handbrake.

Hmmm. Thanks to rain and "less-than-optimal" driving technique, I managed 360 and 180 spins at Thunderhill during 3 days of DE (my first outing). I can think of no reason to want to do this in our cars and every reason for learning enough to never do it again.

Go Navy,
You know, when I bought my targa people cautioned me in the loss of body rigidity and firmness compared to the coupe. That didn't bother me.
People also said that road and wind noise is much greater in a targa than a coupe. That didn't bother me.
But what really pisses me off is when I'm driving the targa on a submarine and we dive to periscope depth and the targa top invariably leaks like a sieve. I hate when that happens!

I played "Need For Speed - Porsche Unleashed" for a while. I think it was the Carrera RS that was the most fun - it was the most responsive to throttle steering of all the cars in the game. Kinda makes me want one......

Never driven my targa on a submarine, so fortunately my carpet is still dry...
From firsthand experience I know if you're running late for work and forget something at home and are at a light waiting to do a U-turn, if you punch it at the light with the wheel turned to lock, it only takes about 2 seconds to get a good look at the shocked expression on the face of the guy in the 3000GT behind you.
Cool thing was, I was pointed exactly in the right direction going the other way, in the proper lane. I wish I could say that was due to my superlative driving prowess, but I think I just got lucky.
The car seemed to enjoy it too, however.

I have completed that phase on the game by doing what everyone has been saying here in there car...using the handbrake. Wait until you have to deliver a boxster to a customer without a scratch. Driving through a really tough course, against time and with police chasing you. I gave up! Good Luck.

Add a little rain to a road thats been dry for a week, so the oil, grime and diesel mix well with the water. Apply too much throttle coming out of the round about and - hey presto - a 360 degree spin is yours without any handbrake...
...Easy Peasy....
