Talking New suspension ordered (finally)

You guys have been a big help, many of you with personal emails to me (thanks Martin, Chris, Ron). After waffling back and forth between H&R and ROW 030, I ordered Gerts ROW030 sport suspension package. This car is mostly aggressive street/country road driving with occasional DE and our Michigan roads are washboards at best. Only modification was to get the euro TT rear sway bar (21mm) instead of the usual 030 20mm bar in order to minimize understeer.
Gert and Maureen are awesome when it comes to customer service as you know. I ordered online. 10 minutes later I had email confirmation. 5 hours later the package shipped and I had a DHL tracking number. Why would you go elsewhere? The dealer gave me a great price on install and alignment which I will pair with the wiring harness replacement since that will kill a day anyway.
Cant wait!!
Ciao.

Congrats, Richard. Did you get OEM shocks or Bilstein HDs? What convinced you to go with the M030 over the H&R? I'm debating the same question.

I stayed with M030 shocks, springs, sways. Wasnt concerned about longevity of OEM shocks since I put on only 2K miles/yr. At that rate they should last 12 years. It didnt seem Bilstein HDs could lower the car as much as I desired either and after all "its better to look good than to feel good". H&R was my prime choice before I took a ride this weekend and had a reminder of how poor our roads are. If we had glass smooth roads here, the stiffer H&R probably wouldnt matter. PSS9 is way more than I need and a friend has had his fail already, so...

Now I'm confused again!!! My "official" understanding is that the H&R springs actually lower car more than the M030 springs unless you had some special spring perch's on the front.

smithk993,
I believe the H&Rs do lower the car more (by about one-half inch) than RoW M030 with factory shocks. However, I have read that the H&Rs (non-coilovers) are stiffer than the M030, and I've read that the M030 is stiffer than the H&Rs -- very confusing. Does anyone know the spring rates of the M030 and/or the non-coilover H&R? I've tried searching the archives, but I cannot find a definitive answer.

Richard,

I am glad I could be of help. That is what Rennlist is all about.

FYI, the height from the garage floor through the centerline of the 18" wheels is 25 7/8 " fron and rear. That is as low as it will go without front spring perches. Now why did I sell those Dopke Design spring perches? They are NLA

After wifey cools down over the $500 tail prep, paint and install, the new windshield @ $1,000 and the door strap fix @ $600 + a few other little "fix its" for a total bill of $2,300, I may next attack the suspension. I will wait a few months for this...then I'll blow out my M030 RoW suspension and sway bars in a package deal to some lucky Rennlister.
