Warranty about to expire... (95 C4, 50k miles) what to check?

Post Warranty about to expire... (95 C4, 50k miles) what to check?

The one-year Porsche certified warranty on my 95 C4 is going to expire in mid-April. The car is going to the dealer in two weeks to have the wiring harness addressed. It's a good opportunity to have the car looked over by the dealership and address any problems. What things should be checked over on a 50k mile C4?

The car has a new rear main seal and clutch, done by the dealer when I bought it. Aside from shocks that squeak loudly when I go over speed bumps (is that something wrong?) and a oil pressure gauge that pegs (sender?), any other weak spots to look at carefully? Steering rack? Climate control? Door hinges?

Hi Vic:

LOL,..Your car is just getting broken in,.....

Seriously, here's a short list of some things that I would have the Dealer check for you:

1) Steering rack

2) Door stop brackets

3) Have them do a compression & leakdown test

That's about it for the major stuff.

That squeaking is likely not shocks, its usually the swaybar bushings and a good soak with a can of Wurth HS 2000 will take care of that for awhile. The cure is new bushings and lubing them up with the correct grease.

Thanks, Steve ... the car has been sitting much of the winter, only getting out a couple of times a month on nice weekends. But it's running beautifully.

Check for oil leaks (lower valve covers) and cracked spark plug wires.

Vic,

I'd also look at the last time your sparkplugs were changed. At 50K, and with the harness being replaced, this may be a good time to change, especially since they're a pain to do so you may think about having them do it while they're "in there."

You said you replaced the clutch. What about the chronic clutch slave cylinder?

HVAC air/pollen filters?

Brake pads and rotors?

Battery?
