Speed Gallery on Ventura
Anybody know these guys? I drove past today and saw a lot of Porsche's, figured I'd poke my head in. I talked with one of the guys and he's a huge 993 fan.
If you've had any good or bad experiences with this garage I'd love to know. I believe they just moved in about 8 months ago from another location. Thinking about using them if they pass the rennlist background test.
Thanks,
b

b-line, I bought my 3 spoke steering wheel from them, they seem like good guys. They work mainly on 996's. I am considering having them install my JIC coilovers as they are a dealer. I am a bit nervous though because they don't have much of a track record working on 993's.

Bradford,
I was there yesterday and they had a few 993's on the lot. I even believe the owner is a Pcar nut and owns a few of them himself. They had two 993 turbo's on the lot, one was belonging to the owner, i think..

My friend Paul said something about the owner having come from another successful shop which was a result of his work. He decided to do it for himself. He has heard only good things about them. They have some very nice cars in there. I drive by it almost daily and have thought of stopping in but really haven't had a need yet. My only concern is that they look expensive and with the Venutra Blvd address they probably are. So... if that's the case, and anyone doesn't mind spending top dollar, then Aurel and Don's would be the choice. They are Seinfelds mechanics in Universal City but NOT CHEAP

Alan,
we're on the same page. I have driven by it and I finally decided to stop in.
I also assume with an address like that and a small garage, they probably need to overcharge somewhere to make their monthly nut.
They are close though so that's convienent. I'll give them a try, if they seem to fetch a premium I'll let you know.

They are doing/have done my recent upgrades on my 993TT. Alan the sales guy is a good guy, Virgil is the guy to work on your 993 if Dan is too busy. Dan runs the place. They are top notch. They do work mostly on 996's but Dan is a knowledgeable turbo guy who comes HIGHLY recommended by Kevin M (our turbo expert). They do good work and charge a fair rate.
They just had a grand opening party today at WSIR. It was a blast! Although I did not get to drive my car because the tuning is not done yet, I rode shotgun in Seege's BEAST. That thing is scary fast!
Getting back on topic, B, I would highly recommend Speed Gallery. Tell them Addison referred you.

Thanks fellas,
It is good to hear, they are soooo close to the house. I live right near Mulholland and Laurel. Do you guys know the guys at TRE? Tyson has been working on my car since I got it. Nice kid and I like the guys there. I doooo like a nice tidy shop though. I may have to give them a try for something just to check em out. No hurry mind you, knock on wood.
Scary fast huh? That is always an intriguing statement for me to hear. Okay, that's was enough...the devil was just on my shoulder. Gotta think of something else now, so bye.

addison,
The guys at Speed Zone invited me for a free track day at Willow today also. Unfortunately I shoot my thesis in late Oct. and track days are not in my schedule for the next few months.. Would have liked to have gone though and I admire them inviting me having never taken my car to them, yet..
I think I'll try them out though, they seem like nice guys..

Father of 3. I know what you mean, kinda of a sensory thing, huh? I get a good feeling when I drive by the Speed Gallery and if you guys say they are resonable, I'ma gonna give em a whirl.

Alan,
I started dealing with Dave B. at TRE back in the late 70's when I first got into 911's. He is very knowledgeable about older 911's. He spends alot of time at the track in his 914-6. I pass his shop every day and he is always busy.
