Thumbs up HWFM Racing Team Meeting at Road America

Hello teammates

The not-so-fast and furious will be gathering beginning Friday afternoon May 23 in the Paddock at Road America. Our driving instructor, Eric, promises to procur a prime location for the HWFM compound when he arrives on Thursday.

Friday evening, we will adjurn to Siebkens for bench racing, and a team physical training consisting of repeated reps of 12 ounce weights.

Saturday and Sunday will find us enjoying the Kink one last time before it's taken away from us perhaps permanently.

I know we will be celebrating the exploits of Jeff Phillips, who managed to not only stay off his head on his most recent trip to Mid-Ohio, he actually completed his first PCA race, finishing up four positions from where he was gridded! He did manage to avoid the dread podium. No doubt he will regale us with his adventures.

If I'm not mistaken the good Doctor, our team Physician, will be up from Kintuck.

Anyone else planning on attending?

Even if you aren't a team member, or don't want to be too closely associated with the Speed Challenged, if you're a Rennlister, or have a 993, we'd love to see ya.

Mike,

I'll be there to say both "hi" and "bye" to the Kink. However, I might have to leave the 3-case capacity Fosters cooler at home, so that we will all still be capable of steering a car. There's always the F1 race in September!

Looking forward to it!

I wish the not-so-fast-and-mildly-peeved all the luck in the world (good and bad cause I'm generous).

May victory soil you not...

I would dearly love to attend and represent my Australian and European brethren in one fell swoop - but I can't make it.

Have a good arvo!!

I do wish I could make it but the rest of May is out for me. I would love to meet the rest of the team, though.

BTW, is the team still meeting at Putnam in September? What are the dates?

Mark,
Either Putnam race will work for me. I plan on being at both the June and Sept. event. Also will be at Road America for the LaborDay DE/Race. Too much going on for the Memorial weekend.

Dates for those Putnam events are June20-22 and Sept 20-21. My guess is there will be a DE/Test and Tune on the Friday.

Greg - thanks. I was confused on the September dates and thought we were meeting on the Viper Days event on Sept 12-14...

Anir

Great dancing banana picto-thingie.
Good advice, Doc. We'll save the three case physician's bag for Indy. However a little something to unwind at the end of the day seems reasonable.

cmoss and johnfm

We'd love to see you one of these weekends. Perhaps we can send the team Gulfstream for you.
BTW, John, what's an "arvo"?

Mark
We expect a big gathering at both Putnams. It will be Eric's first race, and my first race in one of these big ol' sedans. My big fear is that Greg will go and place in his race. How will we explain that?

Greg
"We might have to add a Viper Chapter to the HWFM club if we showed up...."

It may look like two run groups by make on the track at the same time.

Also, I'm not sure the Viper guys will undertand the subtleties and nuances of HWFM Racing, even if their times qualify them for membership. There's not a lot that's subtle about a Viper.

The server is not letting me upload photo files. If I e-mail you the logo will you post it? But to answer your question, I'm working on it. Hope to have some next week.

Mike- I'm assuming its the same look as the previous ones that I've looked over (since there wasn't much to change)? I'll post those up. If not then e-mail me the new versions.

I sent you the current one, which I believe hasn't changed.

I need to nominate a new member. EJ just completed his first SCCA race in Spec Racer Ford. After disappointing us with a good qualifying effort, he managed to spin three times and then gets taken out on the front straight by a guy that is 10 seconds off the pace.

Way to go EJ!!! We knew that we could count on you!

Thanks Greg for the scoop

Three spins in one race. Maybe his team name should be "Dizzy" instead of EJ.

I say give that man a turtle!!!!

(When you say taken out, do you mean passed, or involved in an "incident"?)

Ok. Started a new thread for the logo so all the members would see it. Just in case some stopped following this one.
