OT: Out-Of-State Tickets with a NY License
On the New York DMV website's FAQ, it says that tickets in other states do not affect the points on your NY State license. (This is presumably why NY requires residents to trade in out-of-state licenses for a NY license).
I wonder if a ticket in e.g. Connecticut or New Jersey would affect one's insurance, or if they rely exclusively on the home state's point database for this information?
Could someone with a NY license who has a ticket in Connecticut/New Jersey/Other comment on whether it found its way onto an insurance report? And if so which insurance company? (Feel free to message me privately if that is a concern for you, I am not associated with any insurance agent of course and will not forward the information to anyone.)
(P.S., FWIW a NY Highway Patrolman told me that points for tickets in NY are not transferred to non-NY licenses either.)

I'm interested in the same info, except getting a ticket in Vermont with a NY license... my wife got a ticket the second time she drove our car. It was 2am, Route 4 in Rutland VT - 47 in a 30. The V1 worked great! It went off right when the laser hit us! The 17 miles over the limit is gonna hurt, but I'm more interested in the insurance affect.

The info on the NY DMV website is correct as far as I know. Unless it has changed in the last few years, an out-of-state ticket does not result in points on a NY license. I was told, however, that if you don't pay the fine (if you plead guilty or are convicted) then it will be reported to NY. Also, if it's alcohol-related, it gets reported.
Regarding insurance, my understanding is that insurance companies can access a database that will tell them about an out-of-state ticket, but that nothing is reported directly to them by the state. I don't know if that's true. The last time I got a ticket in NJ (several years ago), I didn't get any points and my insurance company never said a word.

my .02...I am a CT resident, and recently got a speeding ticket in NJ. I paid it. I was told by the CT DMV "there is no reciprocity between states if I pay the fine in full". Not sure if this applies to NY?

I paid my speeding ticket fine in Mississippi but it still found its way to California. <img border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" title="" src="graemlins/cussing.gif" /> I would have done driving school to get it off my record if I had known before I changed insurance companies.

Received ticket in VT last summer, so far, it is not on my CT license. I did pay the ticket and pleaded guilty. The state police trooper said sometimes points will appear for out of state licenses, but other times it will not. I would like to think it is the later.

FYI, usually if you get a ticket and do driving school, the ticket will show up as +3 points and the school will show up on a second line as -3 points. So therefore your insurance rate may still increase despite driving school.
I have heard in TX insurance companies cannot charge you extra for a ticket that was offset by school, but in NY I was told by a Geico rep that they will still charge you extra.
In some states if you do driving school then the ticket will not show up at all on the license.
