Question What is this part and where does it go?

I found this rubber part on the garage floor under my car. What is it and where does it go?

It's from the lower part of the door.
Some kind of drain plug...

Think either Gert or the Lone Ranger's favorite jewelry is correct, but would go with the trunk first from experience. Then again, I think there are a few spots under the passenger compartment where there are some too (like drainage from the sunroof area or even over the the air conditioning condensate drain).

Basically, these things cover drain holes to only allow water out and to try to prevent it from coming in thru an unwanted direction.

Thanks Gert, that's what it was. I had just washed the car and dried under the door and obviously knocked it out.

Ron,

Gert is right. I've managed to knock those things loose a dozen times when drying off the car after washing.

They are actually to stop air, rather than water.
If you have one missing you may hear some wind noise from that door. They are made very floppy so that water can still drain past but, on the move, air pressure 'sucks' them into a sealed position.

How clever!

The part number for this rubber thing which is called a valve in the PET CD is 999 926 018 40. The part number is on the valve but the numbers are way to small for me to read. I am missing the one on the other side, probably knocked it out a while ago, so I'm going to order a couple.

Again thanks Gert and everyone else too for your input.
