Time to "own a legend..."

Ok... Here's the story on the two kids... We were in the process of adopting our first (7 years old) when we found out we were pregnant... I am sure you've all heard the stories... needless to say, they are true..

Fireproof, have you looked at the ads here at Rennlist? There is a yellow '95 for sale by a guy here in California. Ooops. Just noticed Frisco TEXAS. Wrong Frisco. :-)
Happy hunting!

Heh - thanks you guys, for keeping your eyes open! Yep, I'm in Texas. It's too early to venture that far...but you never know.
Chipset - congratulations. Similar story here - we were in the process of working with a surrogate when my wife became pregnant! (Of course, that was after spending a 993TT's worth on infertility treatment that never worked, but it all turned out well and we are extremely blessed to have a healthy little 1-year old girl now!)

Actually, I would place a later model 6-speed over color preference. Widebody would just add to the BLING factor, but would also be out of my budget. My plan is to wait until the 997 goes on sale and see what happens to the 993.

I love my Z's, but I've been thinking that it's time to graduate. All roads seem to end to Porsche and it's just a matter of time. I'll say it's not an easy decision as the Z does offer great value. However, being "modern day classics," I can see myself owning the same 993 for many, many years.
BTW, what makes the green 95 at Sewell really attractive to me is that I could trade in my 350 (hopefully get a good trade-in value) and not take much of a hit on taxes. I've spotted killer deals across the country (I don't mind scouring the country for the "right" car), but I'd have to sell my 350 and pay more in taxes.

Fireproof,
Don't give up on the S due to budget...
I was in the market for a 96-98 993 (Nov 02) and didn't think I could afford a 4S. I found a couple in the mid 40's but they had so many miles and dings I couldn't spend that much on a beat up car.
I ended up finding my 96 C4S at a Bentley dealership in Chicago. I flew out there and took the car for a ppi (mechanically great) but the body had some work done to the front bumper cover. A body shop did an additional PPI and told me to offer them less based on the obvious work done to the car (they said "not major").
I got my car for $39k shipped to Denver and I really wasn't looking for a "perfect" car anyway since I want a Euro front bumper cover, new suspension, exhaust, steering wheel, etc, etc, etc...
My friend just bought a 98 C2S that is near new (8k miles) and spent over $60k.
I can't take anything away from his car because it still smells new but I'd rather spend my $20k in mods and a better paintjob when my bumper cover with Turbo S ducts are installed... His car is just too nice to change anything or even drive in the rain. No fun!
Good luck and post a picture when you find your car,
R

Frisco Brothers!
I just purchased a Red C2S and now live in Frisco. My car is a 97, and I can give you all the info you require on my process and purchase if you want.
For me the advice I got here was invaluble, as I was patient enough to wait for the options, mileage, condition, etc. that I knew I wanted. chased leads, ppi's, and I must have spent hundreds of hours scouring for The ONE CAR.
you are always gonna find a way to spend a few more bucks than you wanted to, but that's okay if you get the car the is the perfect fit for you.
My car was is still garaged and cared for, but now it is my total means of transportation.
It all turned out well, exactly how I wanted it to go!

Wow - I can't believe I've run across two other Frisco folks already! Good deal!
Thanks to everyone for the tips and encouragement. Keep 'em coming! Of course, I may be getting too excited for my own good here.
Luis - thanks for the lead - I may drop your friend an email.
Cheers!

I spoke to Heath at Sewell about 3 weeks ago. He said he would sell the 95 green 993 for $34,500. I'm sure you could neg down a little more... they're not selling quickly.
I love that color comgination and was close to booking a flight from Seattle, but found a Polar Silver grey in Portland.
Good luck!

Bill said his is a C4S. He called me with interest in buying my C2S. He asked for a bunch of pictures and the window sticker, but didn't mention he was selling his nearly exactly comparably equiped car...hmmm.

You guys are great!! Thanks for all the tips and leads! If that green one were Speed Yellow, I think I'd have to cut my London trip short and head there right now! But when I get home, I'll definitely swing by and check it out.
$35K - $39K is more in line with my budget at this time. I'm amazed at how well they are holding their value and how much 8-year old cars are going for. But then again - they aren't just cars, they are Porsches, right? At any rate, I've seen some nice ones for $50K, but that's more than I want / can / need to spend at this time. And even though it *is* a 993, it's hard for me to justify spending that much on a car that old. If I had money lying around, I supposed it'd be different. So I'll just keep searching for "the one", and like many of you, I know I'll find it and be happy when I do...
