It kills me that I don't live close enough to attend these events. But I guess that is no excuse because my neighbor from Arkansas made it. I'll just have to plan a driving vacation to coincide with a future get together. I haven't really taken a long trip in my 993 other than driving it home from Houston after the purchase. I think I am due. And I would love to meet everybody and drool over everybody's cars. I'll try not to drool ON the cars but I AM old and these things can get uncontrollable.

Seriously, glad everyone got together. I am going to make it to an event in the next year. I will bring my 14 year old unless he continues to grow and won't fit in the car comfortably (he's 6'3" and growing).

Again, glad everyone had a great day. I am living vicariously thru your experiences.

My best to all,
chuck

A very special thanks has to go to our fearless tour guide, Fred. You took us on some of the finest roads that the world has to offer for driving our babies. Man that was a lot of fun with fantastic scenery and people to enjoy it with. Great time fellas, thanks to all of you for making it a great day. Gimmie some time to work on those pics and I'll post some,

Oh, Chuck get that boy in there with a shoe horn and we'll see ya next time.

I bought a black 40th Anniversary coffee mug for $8, wish now that I bought a set of 6 or 8.

By the way, we had 22 cars leaving Malibu and we picked up four more (I think) in Moorpark for a total of 26 winding our way through the mountains and citrus orchards or So Cal.

I was looking for a group of 993 today and saw old guy's TT , a pretty yellow 993 and mnmblu's car out on the lawn area. Russ and I tried to keep an eye out for you guys..but no luck. What a great day today at the show! Unfortunalely on Saturday we decided to go to Santa Barbara for a look around and about 5 miles onto 101 our left-rear tire blew off the car and dented the wheel well area on it's final departure! What a drag. Some minor body repairs will be needed and a bit of paint too. But, I must say the car handled great during the 80 m.p.h. adventure!

Default Train wreck -- we've lost a few Speedsters, no injuries

Nobody was hurt, but a train hit a car-carrier that had gotten stuck (high-sided) on the train tracks beside the German Autofest (no, I'm not kidding) and the collision of the freight train destroyed several Speedsters and at least one 993 (a black Cab) so it was a tragic end of sorts to an otherwise tremendous Porsche weekend.

I haven't seen any posts (and only a few vague news reports) so I thought I'd bring the news.

I was there and saw it unfold. There was already a cop there trying to avoid disaster, but the train was coming.

I think the cars were all for sale, so ironically, perhaps it's not quite the personal tragedy of people losing cars they could not stand to see go.

That's horrible. I saw a carrier with 3 spyders on it, 2 silver and 1 black on the way back on 101 near Thousand Oaks.

What a tragedy, we keep losing these cars - so many in one fell swoop.

It was great seeing everyone at the meet. Thanks to Fred for coordinating this. Thanks for waiting for us during the canyon run.

We had more kids on this run then any other, it was cool to see the little ones being introduced to the P-car world. Though the twisties did prove challenging for some of the passengers. I'll remind those with co-pilots bring "barf bags" next time.

Thanks for everyone's patience on the run (the front group often had a several minute wait until the back caught up), it's challenging to keep all these cars together and everyone was a big help looking out for the folks behind them. We didn't want to lose anyone along the way and it worked out due to a full team effort.

Can't wait to see the pics from the road.

looks like you didnt do as well as i... of course, my silver hood crest has already arrived in the mail
aside from that, i had to walk away... fast before i bought sway bars for 650 front and 450 rear at Tarett, had to convince myself that 1K PER WHEEL for the 964 3.6 turbo wheels is NOT WORTH IT! Elephant racing had some VERY nice monoblock casterblocks for 295 i reasoned i would "think over" as long as i dont buy it NOW... it took courage, but i did it! now to buy all that stuff over the net! I took websites and such!
