Does the local PCA region host a Porsche parking area for the Formula 1 weekend?
this year I can only make it down for Sunday. I would like to drive my car, but would like to park in P-car friendly environs.
If there's no PCA area, any suggestions on where to park? My tickets are in H.
thanks for any and all help.

The Central Indiana PCA did have a lot last year, however, I don't know where it was located or who was allowed to use it. The problem with the "private" lots are that most are just roped off and reserved for people in sections of the public parking lots, fields or yards of the residences of Speedway. Usually the lots are close but they are not "fenced" in which means fans can walk through the lots are the way to the track. The main problem with this is people carrying things such as coolers, purses and backpacks which can scratch or dent your beauty. This type of situation may or may not apply to the PCA lot.
I have lived in and around Indy my whole life up until about 2 years ago. From my track experience (by the way I am driving my p-car to the GP) the best thing is to park far away and walk to the track. This solves many problems. Most fans don't want to walk and won't park where I am going to tell you and it also allows you to avoid lots of traffic problems when trying to leave. I suggest parking (on Sunday) in one of the bank parking lots or mall parking lots along 38th street. Now be forwarned this is a good 30 minute walk depending on the pace you walk. If you are carrying in large coolers I would make sure they have wheels. There are plenty of places to park off the path of traffic in the parking lots and there is mall security that roams the parking lot which gives some protection to your car. I have found it is much nicer to walk in than sit in two hours of traffic trying to get out of one the close parking lots. The best part is it is free and you don't have many people walking by your car carrying things. The other option is to park either downtown or by the airport and take one of the shuttles in. The shuttles have special lanes of travel and don't get stuck in the traffic.
Hope this helps.

bet
thanks a lot for all the information. I appreciate the advice.
the walk sounds like a good idea, and the distance doesn't bother me. I walk 20 minutes from the train every day, and my cooler does have wheels.
Since you mentioned coolers, I take it it's alright to have them in the stands. If not, would you mind responding. Otherwise I'll assume it's ok.

Thanks Greg
Maybe I'll just do a couple of 12 pack coolers.
If I have to, I'll buy some of Tony George's track food and beverages.
Last year I totally lucked out and ended up a guest of Compaq and the Williams team -- Hotel, escorted shuttle, Paddock club, champagne and salmon breakfast, garage tours, wearables --like I said, I totally lucked out.
This year, it's back to reality.

Great info!!! It'll be my first USGP and I was just looking for this sort of info. I'll pass this along to some ferrari-buddies coming from Italy. Walking is not a problem actually is fun.
Cheers

Yes coolers are alright to take into the stands. As for size I am not sure on the limitation. I know you can bring in to the track any size cooler(some people sit in the infield area and watch on the screens), however getting one into the stands is another question entirely. I would go with the safe advice of a smaller 12 pack cooler or the skinny tall ones like like Greg suggested. If you would like more specific suggestions on some parking, email and I will send you some suggestions privately. I know I am going to be meeting my brother to park next to him (one less possible door ding), its always nice to have a group of vehicles to park around where you know everyone cares about their car and respects others in the same way.
