Just picked up my '94 C2 from the local Pcar dealer after the tired Boge were replaced with Bilstein PSS9s. What a revelation! Like a new car. Hard to believe that shocks can make this difference to handling.Took it over my favorite bit of mountain twists and it makes me wonder how I managed before. The Boge were obviously shot but it's hard to realise as one seems to adjust and compensate for the gradual deterioration.

My vote is for the PSS9s. I also have the ROW M030 anti-sway bars. I like the ability to adjust the ride stiffness with the PSS9s. The sways were Viper Bob's recommendation, based on my statement that I was not going to track the car. Incidentally, I have a 98 Cab, if that makes a difference.

Those stock shocks suck, eh!

I'm looking forward to finally picking up my car from the alignment shop tomorrow morning. In my brief ride to the shop with even my HDs/M030/Sways, I could feel the much improved ride compliance.

Down with stock shocks!!! Only 27,000 miles on these.

What is the procedure? Installation, then weighing, then alignment or vice versa?

Acutally - the really good suspension tuners will adjust the kinematic toe (bump steer) with a dummy shock installed that has no internals. It just holds your suspension together so the kinematic toe can be adjusted during full shock compression and de-compression. Then all your new components will be installed and the other alignment settings adjusted. During this process the corner balance will also be done. Ask for a print out of the weight distribution front/rear and for all 4 corners. Really good shops will also put weights in the drivers seat equal to your weight during the corner balancing process.

You will not believe the difference between stock and a good suspension set up with new components. It night and day.

Is it acceptable to use the PSS9s with the stock sways for a street car? Are there fitment issues, or is it just that the setup would not be ideal?

No issues whatsoever with the stock sways. Its just that while you are there you might as well upgrade the sways to complement the coilover setup. You get less roll and the M030 Euro sways are pretty inexpensive compared to the adjustable ones.

As a comment to last posts I plan to use swaybars from M030 together with the H&R Clubsport coilovers.

At last, my new H&R Clubsport coilovers are mounted. I have only done a 20 minutes testdrive, but difference compared to old M030 (90000kM) was big.
Steering felt a lot sharper and so was stability. The ride was a bit harder, but overall comfort was just as good as before. Still I have cornerbalance and aligment to do. I will get back everything is ready.

Thanks for posting spring rate data. The PO of my car had Eibachs coil overs installed on my '95 and they arppear to variable springs. Is it possible that the low spring rate you cite is the first part of the spring travel? I am very happy with them on the street, but they are stiffer than stock when tracking and aggressive street driving. Im not sure if any of the other coil over manufacturers offer variable springs... I would be suprised if my springs are 120 and 200... My car is also lower than euro standards....

Who makes the shocks and spring set up above. The body even looks billet.
