I understand that you also need an additional 'bar' fitting under the passenger's seat, into which the extra clip fits. The MY97 onwards have the wiring for the disabler, but you still need the bar. This is dealer fit i heard.

anyway, i have the Porsche Zoom/Comfy but cut the strap and clip off when i found that my 96 could not take the bar and didn't have the wiring.

If anyone is interested in the clip and belt, i can give it away. let me know

if you have had the wiring harness replaced would it update the wiring and be functional?

if the whole harness was replaced, then perhaps. but the recent engine wiring harness recall would not, i believe as it only covered the harness around the engine, and not the cabin or control system.
