Some more tidbits.

Piech didn´t only marry 4 women he also married his sister in law and has childreen from loose relations.

Piech loves to drive all cars and nicked off the Audi TT handeling like a 911.

Piech collects companys like others stamps. he has Bugatti, Bentley, Lamborgini crossing into the Porsche marked. Not to forget he also bought Cosworth engenieering ( but splitet as stupit as the Rolls Royce deal ).

These days the last Rolls rolls out in Crewe.

Bugatti is runed by a company named DAUER and they still make the EB 112 in conjunction with the Dauer 962.

Piechs brother Michael is a main head at Mercedes Benz.

Piechs are the owner off Porsche Salzburg AG. The companyhas the Porsche anuall turnaround per month and controls austria.


Yes Wendelin said once in a Interview that Detlev ( Schremp ) is a good friend to him.

Now in that buisines you can´t have friends you share same interessets or you are enemy.

Porsches brainwork is to importent for some companys so they will do everything to protect it.

The Piech follow up seem to be Mr Pietschesrieder. Familar name ? Jups former BMW head and he has together with Wofgang Reitzle something to clear up in ther history.
Von Kunheim did regret his moves in the same day and both drained some from the best people there.

BMW and Porsche have a strange relation and both played up ther muscles. That startet with Wiedking speaking against feeding up the Rover deal with EEC money and showed it can be done on own funds ( Leipzig but that is Piech money ). In fact every german payed 20$ staatemoney to BMW/Rover in the 90´s.

This money wasn´t investet in Rover and BMW doen´t have to pay it back.

On the other side Mercedes and Porsche have to pay taxes in germany. Guess witch company pays only 1/20 total amount to the other.

This is one reason the DC deal was done under german tax rules.

There are 2 books about Ferdinand and he sued both and tried to stop them.

One book did receive a reedit as Piech agreed to deliver "correct" informations to the puplisher.

Thius is fairly hot off the press. Those who receive Christophorus will already know.
PAG just donated some millions to the restoration of a church in Leipzig. Obviously this shows that Porsche can afford PR work for the community at large but not the racing community.
I do not believe the Carrera GT will be produced. Hope I am wrong but it is out of step with the public face of Porsche at the moment. Latest Christophorus does not mention the GT by the way. Good sign that it is out of favour. Too risky at the moment. There is a world wide downturn. Not the time for such luxuries. Not the time for an SUV.
Finally, I am quite sure that both Ferdinand Snr and Ferry Porsche would have been very happy with the SUV concept. I know Ferry Porsche was behind the project form the beginning.

PS: Just a little fact. Name all the Porsch emodels you can think of. How many. Did you know that Porsche built 350 different prototype models. From the 356 to the 996 and including four door machines, family machines etc etc. Next time you are in Munich check out the Technology and Science museum. Look for the Aluminium autos and who built them. One looks just like a VW Golf but it was designed and built by Porsche.

Roland.. you seem to have a handle on Ferdie Piech. A question - what was all of the posturing about recently by Piech and VW concerning new German tax laws. Piech suggested that he might have to spin off Audi because of this. I thought VW was pretty powerful these days.. they were posturing to bail BMW out of England for some ownership, and they seemed to outsmart them on the whole Rolls/Bentley debacle.

Oh this could become a long thread.

Now VW is owend 20% by the staate Nidersachsen and this keeps the stock value low. Some months ago there was the rumor that Ford or a other company can outbuy VW as the stocks are not representing the real value. There is a group off stockholders organized who have votes ( or claim ) for over 20% from the total stock and try to force there interessts. They will have a higher shareholdervalue while Piech is more interesstet in having big and expensive plans.

The tax story is afik not a tax story alone. In germany the stock company right will change and some lets say "protection" will get lost. Maybe you remeber the Vodafone vs Mannesmann buyout.

The taxrules will also change to a more EC conform system. Right now the german tax system is to strange to explain but companys like DC or BMW pay very low taxes while the small companys who are not exporting pay much higher taxes. Well BMW also used the Rover deal to get subventions from the EC and that money went not into Rovers pocket plus on the other side is tax exempt.

( Wiedeking was ranting about it then BMW said they will stop delivering Porsche parts, Wiedeking answered they will stop any development for BMW. Now buisiness will go on as usual. Just remember BMW used the same move to get the Rolls Royce name from Piech.
Porsche has more Power over BMW then oppesite. BMW´s big problem is Milberg who is responsible for the Rover desaster and doesn´t think "normal" but became main head.)

Now in the next years the system has to be adoptet to world standards and the hughe companys say they will move there headquarters then or parts of the big plants to the east where the taxes are lower.

This is like moving from California to Nevada

Most companys are allready there, except Porsche who built a new plant in Leipzig.
And Porsche didn´t loan the money from the banks or the staate. They had some benefits but a normal car manufactorer would have moved farer east

Generaly autoindustry has to much capacity and the next years will be very interessting.

Thanks for the explanation, Roland. The VW divesting of Audi item appeared in Autoweek about 2 months ago and I've been scratching my head ever since. What you've said makes perfect sense. Maybe, based upon this arbitrary low value, VW ADR's are a buy??

Also, I'm confused about the strained BMW/Porsche relationship you mentioned.. are you saying that BMW exports parts for Porsche or makes them for Porsche?

Hello

Piech will split Audi from Volkswagen and sale the stocks. This will also push Audi out of control from Niedersachsen as the staate will not have enough money to buy 20% of the shares again. But who knows ?

BTW Porsche was kicked out off the NEMAX today. The nemax index are the top 50 german stocks. Wiedeking didn´t liked to report in quartals as he doesn´t see any sense to report buisinesnumbers on actuall number and get ratet on that hype. Porsche will stay to annualy reports.
