(Bit OT) - Porsche Marque of the Year at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix
The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix is one of the less well known Vintage Sports Car events in the country. There are car shows held by vbarious car clubs in Schenley Park. What makes it even better is that auto races are held on city streets through the park - in a real vintage environment (hay bales for "guard rails", open spectator areas almost to the road edges, actual races - not a "car cruise"). This year it will be held between July 13-21, with the race days on July 20-21.
What makes this event truly unique is that it is all done for charity - to support the Autism Society and the Allegheny Valley School (providing assistance to childeren who are handicapped or mantally retarded). So, all revenues go to a worthy cause.
This year Porsche is Marque of The Year, and we are looking to make this the best PVGP event ever. The Allegheny Region of the Porsche Club of America has obtained the cooperation of PCNA to bring in some national race cars. Saturday, July 20 we also will be having a car show, concours and catered tailgate party; Sunday will be the Porsche Car Show, Porsche Parade Lap, and the Vintage races.
If interested, applications for the Porsche car show can be obtained at
