Has anyone replaced the cassette holders at the back of the center console with something that is actually useful? Who actually uses casette tapes anymore? Its a waste of space. I'd love to hear of any ideas to replace that with some storage, a tray of some kind, anything? From what I have read on this board, the center armrest is not a great idea... I'm thinking there must be something good that uses just that space where the cassette things are. Please assist.
Thanks.
Steve

Well,
You can spend BIG bucks and get the CD holder, you can spend 10 bucks and get the tray plus five for the nice rubber pad, you can spend 100 bucks and get the twin cupholders, or you can either keep the cassette or get rid or it and have a little nest in there. I personally put the cupholders in there because I drink and drive and did not want to buy a 996!

I think we all go to different places for different things. Gert of course is great and there are sponsers to this site that are factory authorised. The tray I mentioned and the pad are Porsche and the CD holder is Porsche. The cupholders are not Porsche, but they look really great. I got mine at Tweeks.

Thanks... Is there a sponsor or link or site to a place that sells porsche factory parts by just etnering the Porsche model numbers.... good prices, good cust service, etc that you are aware of? Gert seems to have their own stuff, I havent been able to find a site (perhaps a dealer site) that makes it easy to get Porsche made stuff?

Steve -
You cannot possibly buy all the factory stuff that Gert has. In fact, you would be hard pressed to find a dealer stateside that even knows what you are talking about when you mention some of the stuff that Gert has. He is, after all, in Europe (or whatever they call it all now) and gets some goodies we cannot get. Most of the stuff on his site IS factory Porsche. That being said, there are some great dealers floating around out there - most willing to give a PCA discount - but none that I know of that have what you want - list of parts, numbers, and cost. The car you drive is not a commodity. I believe that Suncoast Porsche is a sponsor and has a website that list all the tequipment stuff. Try them. Better yet, call them and tell them what you want - they will provide you with factory numbers and prices. Also, you can get hold of the PET cd (I think) that has ALL the parts. Good Luck with the new car

Storage tray (total investment of under $20) part #s in this thread. Order from your P dealer.
<a href="http://forums.rennlist.com/forums/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic&f=3&t=000376" target="_blank">what to do with cassette holder? </a>
You'll find cupholder inserts at drinkholders.com.
BTW, for me the Bird armrest is a great addition.

Hey - it's not like I said I added a cupholder, or drive while talking on my handheld cellphone, or prefer a tiptronic, or have fuzzy dice hanging on my rearview, or like the bumperettes, or bought whitewall tires, or allow food or drink in my car, or prefer the look of the stock suspension, or miss Phil's posts (or V8 George's), or think 16" wheels are best, or placed an order for a Cayenne, or think a 996 is a better car, or pronounce Porscha Porsch, or invited Joe F for dinner, or think the S looks fat, or ride on Firestones, or think a Z06 is faster than a tt, or hate the look of carbon fiber, or don't need a shop manual 'cause Ray's got one, or have the fastest P car in the world, or think Viken is wrong, or think it's a waste of my time to search the archives, or think all true 911s have manual steering, or have my oil changed at Jiffy Lube, ...![](http://www.uniquehardware.co.uk/server-smilies/otn/wink/smily012.gif)
and, if it's applicable, happy Father's Day to everyone.
