LSD on 1997 993S
I am in negotiations to buy a 1997 993S. The dealer I am working with says that LSD is standard on 993S and that is why Porsche did not list it as a factory option (called and looked up based on VIN).
Can any tell me more about LSD on 1997 993Ss? How can I tell if the has it?
Thanks,
Goobu

LSD was NOT standard on the RWD Carrera S. It is option 220 on the sticker. If this number is not listed, the car does not have LSD. In fact, it was offered as a package option P08 which is LSD (220) and ABD (224).

Goobu:
Easiest way to tell if your car has an LSD is to raise the rear wheels off the ground and spin one rear tire.
If the opposite side tire rotates the same direction as you are turning, the car has an LSD, if it rotates in the opposite direction to what you are doing, its an open differential.
Best of luck, Sir.

If it does have the option code listed, I recommend checking the wheel rotation anyway (per my friend Steve Weiner's post above) because the 993 LSD is not the most reliable. Mine is inoperative with only 26k on the odo.

Hey Jason,
Your LSD does not work because you track the hell out of your car most 993's dont go 190 mph! How is Ca? 60 degrees today in Chicago, maybe one more Blackhawk track day...
