Dylan,

I got the same information, doesn't sound bad.

However, I'm not sure yet if I want to do this.

E-mail me if/when you guys are going to do this and I'll think harder, like many of us said, JC's picture shows well that the wing looks nice!

Great pictures GT9111. I'm drooling all over my keyboard. Definitely making the jump from Bimmer to Porsche hopefully sometime next year. 993 is such a classic design.

To all interested parties:
OK, I did some research and I am ready to do this now. Peter at Rennspeed in Duarte, CA is familiar with the Japanese 993 ducktail project and he is willing to do one for the group. If he can get 5 confirmed orders he will do the 993 ducktail (using the 993 grill) for an unbelievable $300 and the product will ship in about 2 weeks from the commencement of the project. As soon as I have 5 firm buyers we will commence. I will coordinate the group buy so please email me offline at jcolasante@nyc.rr.com.

Please note I do not intend to profit from this at all. No payments will be made to me and I will receive no compensation for this effort. Ultimately you will make payments directly to Rennspeed. All customer support issues will be taken up with the manufacturer. I am merely facilitating the inital offer. Please serious only for the first 5 orders so we can get this moving without delay.

JC,
any examples of their work (on the web)? I'm interested but it's always nice to see examples or discuss quality of work?

Cheers,
Dylan.

JC,

Good luck with the project / transformation. I think it will look great! Cool throwback to another era.

I think the ducktail is a nice piece - was considering some form of wing for that very car at one time but don't care for the tea tray look.

Not so sure on the early Carrera script, since I'm not keen on stripes. How about black script on that black car (assuming it'll stay that color :-) )?

If/when we'll pull this through, you'll see how our cars will look! Heck, maybe we'll start and trend here (hopefully not though, I like being unique...)

Rennspeed's website is:

<a href="http://www.wholesaler-usa.com/rennspeed/" target="_blank">http://www.wholesaler-usa.com/rennspeed/</a>

Click on "parts corner". There are also several threads about Peter and Rennspeed over at the Pelican BBS, you can search them out. I have also asked Peter to send some photo samples which I'll post.

Peanut,
I still think you should consider selling that "supercup" wing....I have done some research,,,and the duck tail will provide over 300% more downforce at speeds over 55mph!...just some basic phyisics for you to consider!...

While you're at it, have you thought about throwing a set of Fuchs on teh 993? I've never seen a photo of one, but I imagine it would look pretty cool...

Phew!! <img src="graemlins/oops.gif" border="0" alt="[oops]" /> I thought that sounded like an exhaust that would give me another 15+hp and an airbox good for 10+hp, not to mention a chip!! And then of course, the wing would be good for the downforce of a small jet plane to help me stick to the road. Of course at that kind of downforce (+300%), I'd probably need some new tires.... perhaps something found on the back of a Drag racer!! <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[burnout]" />

Cheers,
Dylan.

guys be careful on the Ducktail wing if you ever plan on going fast at a racetrack or on the Autobahn. It was public domain that the Ducktail was relatively ineffective for downforce and cancelling lift on the early 1668-1973 911 cars.

Thos car got spooky at high speed. Porsche ditched that wing an used the tea tray style wing.......last seen on the RS America and 993RS mild version. These cars also had front spoilre for balanced aerodynamics.

If its a street only car for the USA you most probably will never had any dangerous aero issues.........if you blasting down the hill or backstrait at Road Atlanta or jammin throught the uphill at Lime Rock all bets are 100% off.....stock 993s get scary without downforec let alone untested oldtsyle aerochanges.
