Default New Pics w/ Canon Rebel

After looking at all the different higher end digital cameras I ended up buying a Canon Rebel (300D), and I love it!

Here are some pictures from this past weekends DE at Road Atlanta. We used it as kind of a shakedown before my dad heads up to Road America for the club race. On saturday the car felt weird, it didn't want to set into the corner and when you jumped the rumble strip at turn 3 and hit the dip at 10a the car would really get unsettled. So Sunday I took the original Cup bilstein shocks off during the quiet hours and put a newer set on. Boy, did that make a difference, it was like a whole new car as you could really man-handle it around with ease.

As you can see in the last pic the 18-55mm lens ain't cutting the mustard when it comes to the on track stuff. What lenses do you guys use for the on track action shots?

Phil,
I was wondering if that badass car was a Rennlist member. I watched the DE all day Saturday and was admiring the car the whole time. It was probably my favorite car there. I was wondering if the car was having trouble... don't get me wrong, you were moving extrememly quickly but it just seemed like something was a bit wrong. Anyway, glad to see that you solved it on Sunday. I'm so jealous.

What color is the blue? I'm considering a 928 that needs a repaint and that color looks great.

Yeah on saturday we ran some really old Yokohamas that just didn't have any stick left in them, and neither of us had driven in awhile so we were a bit rusty.

The color is Iris Blue.

Next time you're at the track, if you see this goofy looking guy:

stop and say hey, I always enjoy meeting other pcar nuts and shooting the **** about Porsches.

The Rebel is a great little camera, isn't it! Here's a photo I took of a friend in his 944 Turbo Cup Car a few weeks ago.

I agree the standard lens does not have a long enough focal length, but of course you can add any of the Canon EF series lenses.

This is the lens I want: a 28-300mm "L" series lens. Scary price though...

In the meantime, just get closer to the cars!

1/80th second
f 14
ISO 100

the blur was more due to me tracking the car than the aperture setting
